Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

First, when I need to have SketchUp models of hardware like your hinge and door hasp, I prefer to either use the 2D CAD files (McMaster-Carr offers them for many of the items they sell) or I will work from a dimensioned drawing. I create the component with as little detail as I can get away with and still communicate what it is. Since these are not objects that I'll be creating manufacturing drawings for, there's no real benefit in adding lots of detail. The more detail you add the larger the file becomes and the more work your computer has to do to deal with it. I'd expect that your hinge, for example, doesn't really need a pin. Maybe the hasp doesn't need the hinge portion on the back. Now, before extensions, the first thing I do is look closely at the geometry. Turning on Hidden Geometry helps because it shows stuff like all those softened edges I showed in the screen shot. I also work with the Face Style set to Monochrome so I can identify and fix reversed faces. Then as far as extensions go, there's Thom Thom's CleanUp3 and Solid Inspector2. There's also Fixit. Look in the Sketchucation Plugin Store. FWIW, I often hear people say they don't want to spend the time creating components but they usually spend much more time fixing up components made by others to make them usable or waiting for their computer to complete some task due to the obese components someone else made. I'd rather put in a few minutes up front and make a good component than waste the time fixing what somone else did or dealing with objects imported from other software. FWIW, if you use 2D .dxf or .dwg files in SketchUp, use them as references but draw your own geometry.

The 3D Warehouse no longer supports SketchUp 2018 or earlier. In SketchUp 2017 you can try searching for your models in the Components panel and access them that way. If all you want to do is download them so you have them on your computer, you might find it easier and faster to go to your Warehouse account via your internet browser and download them from there. Please update your profile. It shows you are still using SketchUp 8.

What about installing SU Make (2016) on a new PC? IO want to build a new PC sometime in the next 6 months (assuming I can find the necessary parts) and my use of SU 2016 is essential to my hobby. Will a new install pass muster w/ Trimble?

That's a pretty specific thing you are asking for. You could model it yourself. Accurate screw threads aren't really all that difficult to do. I did a tutorial video on making screw threads. I'll point you to it if you decide to make it yourself. Otherwise I can be hired to do it. @unknownuser said: ...I need to print. Print how? 3D print? Internal or external threads? They are different. What version of SketchUp are you using? Your profile says 2019 Free/Make which is impossible since there is no such version. [image: 51653987071_8ebae7a484.jpg]

Hi Tig! I thought about that.. But sadly the latter releases have some conflicts with a plugin the firm developed so for now we are forced to stick to the release which allows it to work properly.

@trodlermichal said: ...and SketchUp is important for my and my job daily. Your profile says you are using SketchUp 2017 Make. You can count on that version not officially supporting newer Mac OS versions. FWIW, since you are using SketchUp for your work you should not be using SketchUp Make, anyway. That's a violation of the EULA. You need to be using SketchUp Pro. As slbaumgartner wrote, many users have reported the current version of SketchUp Pro works. I would expect the next release will officially support Monterey.

I've seen some similar reports in the past. Someone from the SketchUp team has, on occasion, been able to recover the components in the file. Those were from SketchUp Pro, though. You could ask on the SketchUp Community Forum and maybe one of the SketchUp team will help you. Please complete your forum profile with SketchUp version and operating system.

How about a monitor wall mount -single or dual, -they can be folded and placed against the wall & can swivel, 360° rotate, allowing you to adjust the angle as you want. With swiveling arms and freely adjusting height, you can ensure optimal viewing is easy to find the perfect spot. They usually have cable management ducting which prevents cables from being scattered and tangled, making your workspace more tidy and organized! [image: j8mk_DualMonitorWallMount.jpg]

Hi, Meanwhile I have noticed that the manufacturer offers the plan of the guides in several formats, even in.skp! for each of it's guides. So I could use that file for placing the holes exactly. Thank you for your interest and your help! Kind regards Alohaa

Working in chunks is your best approach to try an isolate what objects introduce the performance hit. Your model is large in terms of scale with lots of reflective surfaces and internal voids to calculate light. It's probably a perfect storm where a realtime render engine like Lumion shows its weakness. If it was me I'd be hitting up their support. A file like that should not bring it to its knees. I'd give it a spin in Twinmotion to see what that does. Its 1/3 of the price and now that Epic owns it you get access to Megascans and other goodies too. Plus the Datasmith plugin for SketchUp is solid.

Yeah. I'm using the Rotate Tool and not very impressed. Works fine for simple 90 degree rotations, but the 2 methods for inputting rotation data don't even exist. There is supposed to be a contextual menu, which would allow input... nothing. Also, a "Curic Length Snapping toolbar". This consists of the icon for activating the tool, but nothing else. Pretty piss poor implementation, and QC. I've contacted them via the FB page chat. We'll see if anyt5hing gets done to remedy the problems. Rico

I'd say trial them all to find the one that ticks the most boxes. Quantifier and ProfileBuilder are probably the most cost efficient and customisable. But you do need both to be the most productive. PlusSpec doesn't have the same parametric abilities that ProfileBuilder does but automates others areas very cleverly. It does alot more than PB3/Q Pro though. MeDeek I'm not too familar with. He does have a bevvy of tools to pick from. There's FlexTools too. Its focus is Dynamic Components based responsive modelling so its very non-destructive. In short, I've not really answered your query......

@tig said: Try this v2.0... It offers a new Y|N option at the start to save each definitions into the main folder = N, or =Y to save any nested definitions into subfolders named after their parent. Then you can choose to ignore those - e.g. those nested inside other components, or those in groups [which you might want to consider keeping ?] My man!!
