Each version of SketchUp installs as a separate program. It doesn't overwrite the previous version. When I migrate to a new version I make a screen shot of the previous version showing my toolbar arrangement. Then I import that image into the new one to use as a reference for placing my toolbars. Makes it easier to see what goes where. I also use it as a time to do some cleaning to get rid of tools I don't really need on my toolbars.

Dave, is there an uncomplicated way to migrate plugins? My process is to screenshot what I have in the previous version. then search and download plugins then install, then look up activation codes then activate. Very not easy....
Do you have a better way?
          Thanks in advance

            Hi John,

If you used the Sketchucation PluginStore tool to install extensions/plugins from here you can install your entire bundle after you install the tool in SU2022. Click on the gear icon at the top of the panel and go to Bundles. It will install the latest versions of those extensions. Here's what my Bundles page looks like.

I still have a computer to deal with but when I get to it I'll install the Orbital 22 bundle in that computer.

For extensions from the Extension Warehouse you'd end up installing themthrough the Extension Warehouse panel (top of the Extensions menu).

If you have been AR about keeping extensions up to date and you don't mind chasing potential loading errors you could copy the extensions from the previous version's Plugins folder and paste them into the new one. There are some extensions that require being installed properly so copying and pasting does work for them. Some extensions also put files in other locations so you'd have to chase those down.

I think the best course is to install them fresh. As you are installing them consider whether or not you actually need them. I seem to collect extensions that seem interesting at first and then I find I don't need them. Getting rid of them helps to reduce SketchUp's startup time.

I understand and that is what I do. However even though I am fairly proficient with SU Prro it really puts me off updating my software.
              Needs a rethink.
