Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

I'm not sure what the problem is, but doubt that it's just a simple SU bug. I was playing around yesterday with seeing what a basketball court looked like using stained wood rather than just colours for the markings...so I imported a number of versions of a very large scale wooden floor texture. each one was 2048 x 1024 pixels; and I had no problem at all...well other than SU resampling the texture to a lower resolution.

thanks for the tip, not dumb at all.. actually is the first thing the getting started tutorial says but I never check it, and I think many others do the same, then we get all troubles with resizing textures

I have a script called scale2face.rb that stretches selected components/groups up to touch selected faces above them - used for elongating columns etc up to the underside of sloping roofs etc etc... Here's a reworked version 'scaledown2face.rb' that scales them downwards... (c) TIG 2009 scaledown2face.rb Usage: Select face(s) & group/component-instance(s) located ABOVE face(s). Unacceptable selections produce error dialogs Pick 'ScaleDown2Face' off the Plugins Menu or type scaledown2face in the Ruby Console. The selected items will be scaled downwards [in the Z] until their CLs meet the face or faces. Any intermediate faces etc are ignored; the scaling passes through them. It has a one step undo. Version: 1.0 20091201 First Release [based on scale2face].For the Plugins folder...

The flatten I used was a different flatten from Thom's script. I sovled the problem by editing the end points manually. I will have to try "tt-flatten" . Thanks Thom.

Sounds like a one liner require_all("/any/folder") is all you need (defined in sketchup.rb.) But as TIG said, not all scripts are made to work from any folder.

Hi folks. I use small icons to be able to fit more tools in less space. Being 56 do not means that I necessarily need large icons To choose the size of icons you can also use Menu Window --> Preferences --> Workspace. Just ideas.

@eric_j said: @ All Actually, what StyleBuild could do is allow the user to generate architectural styles. Insert generic doors and windows. Click on "Colonial Style, and the windows are divided light double-hung numbers. "Mediterranean" and they're casements. "Ranchburger" gives you aluminum sliders with no casings. Etc. If it did that, it would be more than a dust collector, I think. Sounds like Dynamic Components are a good candidate for that.

I would think that something like this is crying to be a dynamic component. Just scale it to length and it auto-calculates the actual width. But I am a complete newbie and someone might have objections to dynamic component creation. Rick

For the next Rendering Workshop, I have chosen some basic Kitchen items - which will "highlight" reflections. (excuse the pun). Rendering Workshop - Reflection This Workshop will be too easy for the master renderers on SCF. (It is intended for new users who want to learn more about reflection). But drop by anyway and offer your tips. [image: file.php?id=37922]

Here is a first shot at this. I made everything 50% reflective, and added 3 lights on the ceiling, and a room around it. First, the wide model (left to right) makes it hard to show good results on a forum. It might be better to reposition things so the overall scene is more square. I did this to make a better image. You can upload the new model here: kitchen3.skp [image: mffA_kitchen2.jpg] The obvious problems are: The three lights in the ceiling add some highlights, but the reflections would probably be more impressive with a more interesting ceiling, walls, etc. Bronze phone has white highlights rather than bronze nightlights. Teapot looks too plastic I wanted the top of the coffee pot to have a chrome look. Lets see what we can do to improve this.
