Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

@unknownuser said: @tig said: Try EEbyRails or CurviLoft ??? Also, for starters, you might want to extrude the normal arcs the use the scale tool on the surface edges to squish and stretch the arcs. That's the way I would do it. A while back I needed to draw a drooped mesh roof between 2 curved joists. Think BigMac Arches or better yet, a saddle. (no time to create a pictorial, sorry) I setup the 2 curved joists with the arc tool. (Saddle back & front edges) Then I ran a line between the apex points. From the 2 points I drew another arc downwards to the desired bulge. (the seat) That created a segment face. I highlighted one of the joist 1/2 arcs. Then the followme tool pointed to the curve segment. That gave me a flat cover on 1/2 the roof arc. I deleted the top flat and the 2 end segments faces, and what is left is 1/2 of a curved mesh roof surface. Just copy the surface and flip it into place to complete the roof. Make the join line soft&smooth. You can do it in less time than it took to read this.

@genma saotome said: There are times where I take a component in a model and rotate it for use in another situation. Because the axis of the component instance also rotates. I have many situations where that's not acceptable, so I have to explode the new instance and make a new component under a new name. It would be far easier if there was a function I could use that reoriented the component axis to the same as the whole model -- the move axis feature is far too cumbersome... I simply want a single click - bang - it's done solution. Absolutely dead on. In most cases I have to maintain a separate copy of a comp. on a development layer simply to preserve the axis alignment for editing. ============================== In a similar vein, component scaling should be modified as well. When you copy a scaled comp, say a set of comps that taper, such as a flap linkage component of a wing, big at the root, small at the tip, the scale of the copy is at the original scale. If the intermediate comps scale at 1.78% per object, AND must maintain axis alignment (along a non axis guide line) then it becomes very difficult, as well as growing inaccurate to compound scale the original comp, rather than just applying a common scale factor to each subsequent copy. If you need a copy at the original scale, then take it from the comp.library, or the original object. Better yet, if copying a scaled comp, popup a d-box asking for "original scale", "last scale ratio" or "new scale ratio" and be done with it. Last Scale Ratio would be especially useful where the scaling is different along the 3 axis, ie: not 2x all round, but 2x green, 2.5x red and 1.995X blue.

@edson said: I am almost sure you can find free programs to convert any image into a windows icon. True- I found four without looking hard (I picked "image2iconConverter"). Easy to convert and in windows, just right click the icon, go to properties, change icon and pick the icon from where ever you stored it. Very easy [image: kg4Y_2010-09-27_1009.png]

I see. It should have been more obvious to me but the problem appearst to be that the "share model" option in my installation is greyed out for some reason. I've gone back to the instructions here.. http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=37939 ...and am doing everything properly. Is it a problem with my installed program or am I missing something? postscript... I found this on the forum and attempted it. The option is still grayed out. @unknownuser said: OK. I've got it working again. In case anyone else has this problem, here's what I did: In WinXP, open control Panel and click to Security Center Click Internet Options. Choose Trusted Sites Click on the Sites Button. Type in the box "http://sketchup.google.com". The click the Add button. It worked for me. Thanks to all, Tom

@frascati said: thank you very much. When I googled "sketchup background color" I arrived at this page... http://download.sketchup.com/OnlineDoc/gsu_mac/F-Model_Settings_and_Managers/Settings-ModelInfo.htm Apparrantly instructions for MAC. Where should I have searched for this info? hm... you stumbled across some very old help info there. The up to date help is reached when you in SketchUp click in Help > Help Center. @frascati said: First one is probably really easy. Probably having something to do with the choice to "match color of object in model" button but I can't seem to get it to work. Let's say I fill a panel with a specific color. Later I want to use that exact same shade/texture/etc on another item/panel. So far I have been unable to determine how to do this. Is there some method of 'click' on the color/texture identity and 'paste' that to another entity? Second question... more difficult perhaps.... How do I change all X to Y? If there are 55 items in my file that are colored with shade/texture X, how can I change them all to Y without repainting every individual panel? If you have used a material and want to reuse it then in the Material-Browser pick the 'eyedropper' icon pick the material and paint with it [this is also good for 'copying' any changes to the UV-mapping in a material as the 'sampled' material will retain it's 'Texture' settings]. An alternative to the eye-dropper' is to press Alt and the cursor should change momentarily. If a material is applied to 'raw' faces then in the Materials-Browser hover over the required material and right-click 'Select' to select all active faces with that material. Then pick another material and repaint all selected. Alternatively pick a face and right-click context-menu Select > Same Material to do the same selection and then repaint etc. However, if materials are applied directly onto groups/instances then you need a 'script' - there are several 'global-material-changer' tools available...

Unusually the first thing to test is the graphic card - as it's the cause in 90% + of the cases.

It is very easy if you can create two pins more to position the image in the face. Then you can texture the whole model with an image like projected.

The same here with the model under "Series #2" (the curved hotel building) here: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=264568#p264568 It was really a time saver and made it extremely easy to do it with the new feature.

Since you scaled the component "from outside" (when resized the whole model), it has now a different size than the definition would have. SU is simply asking you if you want to save it like this (i.e. keeping this scale) or should it save it as the definitions defines its original scale.

Thanks Gaieus. I didn't know lock was applied only to Groups and components. I grouped the surface and Lock was available.
