Dave R, just tried to download and just as you said - won't work, just allows me to look through the catalog. Guess I will make do with what I have. Thanks for the info.
At least my Podium Browser works.

BOX- thanks for leading me to Collin's post about changing that one line, SU now allows me to open 3d Warehouse and my Podium browser. Dave R- I didn't have a problem opening 3D Warehouse with my V-18, I hope that it doesn't reconsider once I boot up again!
I have not been using SU regularly and I have version 2018 - (I don't use it enough anymore to update), the program works well, however, I have not been able to open the warehouse or my Podium browser. In both cases, I receive a message "3D warehouse requires an internet connection. Please connect and try again"
I have my internet connection on but somehow the program will not recognize it. In the help menu, if I click on "learn" I get a message "it looks like you might be offline", which I am NOT. I have been clicking around all tabs and looked through the forum but have not found anyone else with this issue.
Hope someone can give me a heads up!!
I have a valid Version 2018 Pro, run windows 10 on an up-to-date machine, primary browser is Chrome, but I do use Edge and see no change in my SU dilemma.
Thanks to all.
Jim
This post brought back memories from six years ago-- same question. I found my old post and copied it here.
I still use SU, getting better, still inching towards being better and still in awe of some of our superstars. Since '10 I have added 3d animation - Lumen RT5 is a fun program with all the little people running around, cars zipping by and trees swaying in the wind, for exterior renderings. Quick, easy and gives a great client experience. For interior work I like to use Podium, which has improved greatly over the past six years. Haven't take the plunge to create construction docs with Layout yet!
I still use and love SU and hold the Forum guys and gals in exceptionally high regard for their talent and tech help in a pinch.

I had been trying to find a 3D program for some time in the late 1990s'. I love to draw, but the time it takes just didn't fit with impatient clients. In 2002 at an AIA convention, I stumbled upon the SU booth and couldn't leave. My wife watched me for a while and said "your going to buy that aren't you". Got my 2.0 disk and started using it right away - at the convention. (The "SU people were great by the way.)
It has been a great help for my clients (and me) to quickly see many alternates and come on to a better solution - same story for everyone that uses the program.
I can't locate my very original drawings, but did find a small church from 2002. A small (50) congregation with shoestring budget wanted to add on to their existing building to grow their group. I have attached early studies and some photos of the actual building. Also have attached a few more recent projects. Some improvement over the years, but I feel sort of stuck at a mediocre level and hope to inch closer to our forum greats. Thanks for all your help over the last 8 years.*
I loaded Dimitri's fix to replace the expired files, re-booted SU opened a model, selected create section and got the section box to appear on the model. I haven't time to experiment with it but apparently it will at least open on a PC (I am running an ASUS pc with i7, 16GB).
I hope pgarmyn has not lost interest because of "skalp". I am sure many people would like the option to use this free plugin.
I just received an email from DAZ 3D with ads for the new version of Reallusion and found this 6 year old post that had only one answer.
I pose the same question, has anyone tried it out. It will accept 3DS files so SU models ought to be functional, and you can import google warehouse objects.
It is $140 for the pro version and the demo video of what it can do is fascinating.
I have been using LumenRT4 and enjoy the life it puts in the walk/fly throughs. With Reallusion it appears that you can green screen your actions and have your own avatar or a clients avatar in the model, interacting with the spaces. I wonder about the learning curve and the cost of additional modules.
Any thoughts????
I am making the transition from V. 8 to V. 2014 and have found some of the 1001 features will not work. Grills and making panels. I have tested some of the others but just noticed this. The best thing to do is contact Goh Chun Hee Maybe he will respond on the forum for all of us. I have been using his set of tools since it came out and find it very valuable. Meanwhile, I go back to version 8, where everything works. Hope the transition doesn't take too long. The plugin loading file locations have changed for everything and I am having trouble with plugins that don't install from the SU tools.
Rich and Charley -- Thanks for the quick reply. I paid a renewal fee when doing the original upgrade to 14, hope they don't want more $$ for this tiny update. I will let you know.
I have been away from the forum for a while and just started my V14 today and found there is a new version ready to download. Anyone try it yet? I can't seem to find any information on what it is, what it does. I would appreciate a brief outline on what was updated, etc. I couldn't find anything on the Trimble Sketchup page either, maybe hiding in plain sight?
I have a copy of Draftsight and use it on occasion along with AutoCAD. Very similar feel and functions. I can transfer .dwg drawing files both ways and have not found any significant degradation in data. I have found it very useful if someone sends me an Acad file saved in a newer version than mine. What my Acad will not open, Draftsight will.
To answer Ands43 I agree with JGA, from experience that you can import and re-use your title blocks from Acad.
There is another free 2D program, DoubleCad XT5 which is a product from IMSI. It has two big brothers, TurboCAD LTE 6 and TurboCAD LTE Pro 6 which have a low cost, but function very much like Acad LT. DC has a builtin opening screen with many size drawing templates.
Both work well with Sketchup
