Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

I've lost count of how many CAD programs I've tried over the years hoping to find a good layout tool to go with Sketchup. Just recently TigerCAD, TurboCAD again after many years, DoubleCAD, FelixCAD. Bottom line I think DraftSight is it. I thought it was 2D at first, but scanning the manual it is actually 2.5D! and it opened a 12mb dxf model from SU perfectly with layers. It makes nice vector PDFs and .dwgs that open well in other programs. UI is different and still figuring it out. Also imports images and you can reference external files. All the stuff required to do layouts and drafting. And it's free. DoubleCAD imports the skp model but you can't actually do anything with it, too clunky and slow. My two cents. I normally use ArchiCAD by the way. EDIT: Update. Upon further review DoubleCAD isn't working out. Now, I'm export 2D drawings extracted from the model in a preliminary sheet layout in dxf. Then open in DraftSight to add images, Word docs, etc. No 2.5D, just 2D. One issue is although it prints to pdf very well, the file is 15mb! I found that printing an svg, open that in Inkscape and save as pdf makes great quality and 141kb. TurboCAD Designer also works for this, but not free, about $40.

There is a command-line utility for "scrambling" a Ruby source file, which outputs an .rbs of the same name. http://code.google.com/apis/sketchup/docs/utilities.html C;\Plugins>scrambler SketchUp Ruby Scrambler version 1.0 Usage -- Scrambler file1.rb [file2.rb] ... Creates file1.rbs [file2.rbs] ... For obvious reasons, an unscrambler isn't available.

You need to use Sketchup.load to load .rbs files. http://code.google.com/apis/sketchup/docs/ourdoc/sketchup.html#load

SU8 free doesn't have an option for importing CAD files. You need pro for that. You could try the plugin here, though.

Yes, I get that too sometimes. It indeed seems to be the file size (rather than resolution size). Save it as jpg and it will become larger - then it displays. We should really close down one of these days and clean up this forum software. It has so many glitches!

Something like these (as TIG says). Perspective: [image: Bazilika_Metszet0000.jpg] Parallel (still retaining that small, southern wall): [image: Bazilika_Metszet0001_hatter.jpg] Parallel (full cut) [image: Bazilika_Metszet2_hatter.jpg]

Just bought, downloaded and installed Artisan. Couldn't get the videos in the link to work, kept freezing on me, but I did some research and it sounds like a fantastic program! Now all I need to do is learn how to use it. No sleep for me tonite

Adding new toolbars does that sometimes. Reposition them and save the new positions.

Another strange thing If I use the window materials editor and click reset colour, the green square flashes grey then comes back green, and won't go away, however the material become transparent, and the colour changes to different rgb values. If I use the entity material editor the click reset colour the rgb values change and the green square gets replace with grey as you would expect. Also there appears to be a numerial difference in vertical size reported- I know its very small, but shouldn't they be the same EDIT I surpose one window is rounding it off the, as its so small[image: 0R2g_mat1.png] EDIT2 Changed to cm and more noticeable[image: mBNK_mat2.png]

i think you can try also to use the image as a glass texture then edit the opacity to 50%... just make sure that you map it properly

Hi soundtracker Just use the SU text fcn and instead of entering text in the box just press the [space] and no text is entered. Pushpin for leader. Not perfect but OK for quick notation. dtr

I tried that too, but it still seemed to block the sun and NOT cast a shadow. I'll try the transparent material idea when I get to work today.

I can't tell you why it works well, but I've been really happy with this one: nvidia geforce 9400gt, 1gb ddr2, pci-e 2.0
