Make it a component and save it to a component collection, then select and place it from the component panel whenever you need it.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Dave, thanks for the response. You are correct. The problem is hidden geometry. I had show hidden geometry on but, for some reason, SU was not showing it. I reloaded SU and problem was solved. See,it would have been a waste of time uploading the model. You answered the question easily without it!!!! (Actually, it was too large). Many thanks for the help. Cheers...>Scotty

If it was made using Sketchup any old doodle would do. If it was handed over to their corp artist and made elsewhere? Says a bit about the union. An intelligent CEO would have his artists embrace Sketchup as the sole tool for this.

@dan rathbun said: Yes I can, but sometimes it's tricky, it selects move leader instead. Often takes a few trys, or zooming in a bit. @tig said: Click+drag on the text-leader's arrowhead - i.e. hold the left-mouse-button down and drag the cursor [now attached onto the arrowhead] to a new position for the arrow, snapping the arrowhead onto any new object - resulting in a modified piece of Text that you would have otherwise needed to recreate from scratch... 8 attempts didn't work, the ninth was successful. Thank you!

Don't get me started on this!!!.... oh well, ok. Outliner should be merged with Layers to be able to 'nest' layer sets. If we continue to model on layer 0 and organise groups and components on layers then with each nested group or component would give a prefix of the parent layer. This way visually manipulating groups [or components] in part or in full would be all too easy!!! It can't be more simple than that IMO.

This discourse could inspire a request for a script. One that would highlight or put a target on widely scattered stuff, and the target would scale relative to the camera distance from the objects, so that you could inspect, edit, delete, move, etc. "Highlight remote objects", or "Mark remote objects". You can do this in Autocad, because the blue "grips" scale with the camera.

I opened them both up in Photoshop (instead of the scaled down version on screen) and looking at a 1:1 crop and even a 4:1 crop, i think your new card looks way better. so, i actually disagree with you i think the new card looks better. Not sure what to tell you

80% of the time, if I selected Sketchup Pro 8 "File -> Import...", I immediately got the Bugsplat, and Sketchup would close. If I kept relaunching Sketchup, and selecting Import, eventually the Import Browser would remain open and allow me to import the dwg or dxf file. I figured it might be due to my Autocad 2006 program (which is technically incompatible with Windows 7, even though it does seem to work okay), so I uninstalled Autocad 2006. Now I no longer get the Bugsplat. I installed Autocad 2006 on a different machine than the machine that I run Sketchup on. Of course, that solution is also a work around, because it would be better to be able to run both applications on the same machine. I have been looking around for a newer Autocad version (Windows 7 compatible) to see if that will help, but it sounds like you all are saying that the Bugsplat will still occur, and that Trimble (and Autodesk?) will need to fix the bug.

I have never had good results with shadows on in any model. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I never understood why people insist on working with shadows on anyhow. Every model I have downloaded has shadows on! Its kind of annoying.

Vikkram, Welcome! People probably need to get a step by step description of the technique you are using. Working with terrain, one thing I can say is, you may want to get some plugins such as Vertex tools and Artisan. Are you using the Smoove tool and the selection of vertices is incomplete? Is it possible to make a screen shot? Peter

Almost all 3D printing machines use STL as their input files. The software that coverts the STL and drives the machines (mostly by G-code) is almost always proprietary and is supplied by the machine vendor. The meshes of complex STL files often do have flaws which need to be repaired, for this there is netfabb which is free for the basic program. hth, Norbert

Yea.. I looked at TIG's slicer plugin, and that is exactly what he needs. Whoopsie! Only manifold solids? hmmmm... Then a new script will need to be written, or TIG will need to modify that one. Sorry.
