Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Because the faces inside the group already have a color. Change them back to Default material then color the group. Usually I don't color groups, but the faces inside. Your faces in the tall group are backwards (blue pointing out). You can select them all and choose context menu "reverse faces".

Thanks TIG for the feedback - I eventually used a lisp routine to read the text and place it at the correct elevation, then I used another lisp to place a point at the text insertion followed by your point triangulation routine in SU and all done! Could be simpler if the surveyor just used 3d from the word go...

Hey, I also use SU primarily for exhibition design work, so hope this may be useful. For rendering I use Thea, which I've found offers the best balance between quality and speed in a deadline-driven environment. As for drafting, it really depends on the level you need. For knocking out some quickly dimensioned elevations, Layout does the job, but for drafting from-scratch, I found it way too laborious (I do accept this may be my shortcoming, not SketchUp's). For 2D drafting, I've moved over to NanoCad, which has a VERY Autocad-like interface, and more importantly is FREE, for the basic version which does everything I need. Between SU, Thea and NanoCad, I think I've got it covered cheers, A

I am wondering if some little gimmick like a mouseover/flyout show credit could work. Of course this may not be the format you are using. That is more like a webpage thing. In the real print world you just provide a Footnote and Bibliography.

(A) I notice that some groups are "stubborn" and keep their own axes to align to. They simply do not wish to adopt to the new drawing axes by use of the 'Move' tool and its protractor. I don't know the cause of this. Your flang group is one of them. (B) Don't snap to axes. Use input 0, 90, 180, or 270 degrees after rotating to arbitrary angle.

The Plugin Store installs plugins to the correct directory based on the operating system and SU version and, importantly, maintains the correct file structure which historically has been difficult for many people to do manually. Read any of the long threads in the Plugins forum for proof of that. With SU2014 the correct location to be putting plugins is under Users/App Data. The beauty of this is that you don't need to be concerned with the location because it is handled autmoatically The Extension Warehouse does the same sort of thing. Of course with the Plugin Store plugin there's a number of tools for managing the plugins once you have installed them but first things first.

I can't draw any lines that disappear by themselfs. Neither outside nor inside group's environment. b.t.w. your drawing axes are upside down. Right click on one to reset them. Not that I think that this makes any difference in the "vanishing edges" issue.

From here, you can clear your cache if you do not use the normal method, or CCleaner. Forgot about CCleaner. That saves me having to actually open IE again. Internet Explorer's motto should be "the most popular browser for downloading Chrome."

I often need alternate styles while working. I have scenes set up that change the style (and nothing else) so I can look at the presentation of export style, then switch to a style that is easier for working.

Does this happen with every SKP you try, or a specific SKP that might be corrupted ? If it's SKP related try this. Open a new SKP. Preferences > General > Check models for problems tick Automatically check... AND Automatically fix... OK. Close SketchUp. Now reopen the problem SKP. It should be fixed as SketchUp opens it. Now try Model Info... again... If it occurs with every SKP then you need to use Control Panels > Programs and Features and Reinstall/Repair SketchUp v2013 - something is wrong and needs fixing. Failing that, try uninstalling SketchUp and reinstalling from scratch... Any custom files you have [e.g. Plugins will NOT be deleted by a proper uninstall using the system-uninstaller]

Derei, By the way, you could remove the up and downs by duplicating the wave profile at 1/4 and 3/4 distance, and then use Curviloft, Loft by Spline, as shown below: [image: tXgY_Derei-Wave-Curviloft.png] Derei - need2extrude.skp Fredo

thank you a lot @ all who have tried ans especially Dave R and kaas! Upon another close inspection I found out that one edge consisted of only 10 faces while all 3 other "rounded-edges" had 12 rounded faces...strange. Plus I could clearly see those "precision related errors" Dave was speaking about, I must clearly have messed something up big time unintentionally by being a very few mm off without noticing it! The red-axis for example does not run parallel to the objects outer edge. maybe it is so slightly off, that it is "ok" for the object as it is, but once solid-actions are performed it just looses it. Anyway. Am happy to have a working clamp now and will pay even more attention to those little details in the future. thanks again to everybody who wrote in this thread. best regards, Alex
