BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Thanks for the tip about paste in place into a file. I use paste in place a lot when I am modeling for different reasons but never thought about trying it in a new window. I didn't realize it would work across files. I don't think it will work for my current issue because I'm just making very small adjustments and I need the rest of the model to reference but it's a great thing to keep in the back of my mind for later because you never know. nice tip

This has been covered repeatedly here on SCF. You shouldn't just copy plugins from SU2013 to the SU2014 installation. Many plugins required updates to meet Ruby 2.0 standards. Probably the best thing you could do is delete the plugins you pasted into the the SU2014 Plugins folder and start from scratch. Using the SCF Plugin Store's tools will make that easier.

ok - so i re-launched sketchup today and tried curviloft along spline and like magic the toolbar came back. but when i tried selecting edges with the loft along path tool to check out the offset option mentioned above, the progress bar returned. maybe i need to find info on exactly how to use the loft along path tool. but the bigger issue for me is needing to click two faces and instantly create an offset with equal width as i build ductwork systems from measurements i take from 2d cad-created duct layouts. no time to build a path between faces. thank you for your time gents.

I made a script for t his years ago.. model-id.rb Each model on the 3DWarehouse has a unique ID. Visit the model in the 3D Warehouse, copy the ID and paste it in the Model ID plugin dialog. Then when you upload the model, it will replace the one on the 3D Warehouse. [image: mF3B_2014-06_66.png] [image: jSW1_2014-06_67.png]

Ah. You didn't say TEXT box in your first post. That's a different story. Perhaps it's an OpenGL setting thing. You might try changing the settings and see if the behavior changes. I've never seen the tips display like that.

I'm still not sure there's an issue. I didn't see it at all when I tested it. Here's an example. I don't see any cropping of the image in the video (in the ZIP file) do you? [image: vFgZ_Swedishstool1.png] [image: UCtB_Swedishstool2.png] [image: n8FU_Swedishstool3.png] I set the viewport to 1280 x 720 and exported these images at screen size. Then I exported the video. Is it possible you're setting the window instead of the viewport to your video size? At least based on my results there's nothing that needs to be fixed by Trimble. Mp4 video from scenes

I question if the SSD will do as much as you want. I use one in may machine and of course opening, saving should be quicker but normally the drive should not see a lots of use unless the model load is so large the paging file needs to be used , but it looks like you have more than enough memory. My working memory sets and private bites usually in low to mid MB range and CPU usage and memory in the 25% range. I do not render however.

@unknownuser said: ntxdave, If I understand.....why not look at creating a.pdf "portfolio" It will require you to have Adobe Acrobat Pro (maybe you have already?) If you create your "slides" (pages) in LO and either export to .pdf or print to .pdf you can then convert the file to a .pdf portfolio that you can share wih your clients/etc. Backgrounds/colors/styles of the portfolio can be custom or just use stock templates. Upload a small .pdf file and I can quickly create a portfolio if you like. C I appreciate your reply (especially since it was the only one ) but this is not at all the direction I am looking to go. I did go take a look at Portfolio. I do not want a static file like a PDF. No animation of the objects on the presentation screen and no 3D objects. We already use PDF files for "static" information for our customers. I am looking for a PowerPoint/Keynote type of product that will allow me to insert SU (or other 3D modeling) models/components that can be displayed and manipulated during a presentation. I do not see PDF as a "real" presentation package in any sense. If I am wrong, I would be happy to be corrected/updated. Since I got no other responses, I am going to make an effort to go define how I would like to see enhanced in LayOut, or a new presentation product offering that would more fully exploit SU models. Part of my dilemma though is where to post it. I toying with the idea of putting together some UI suggestions for what I would like to see.

You can either download the file with the red Download button and then use Install Extension under Preferences>Extensions to install it or, better yet, install the Sketchucation Plugin Store plugin from the link at the top of the this page and let it automatically install plugins for you. BTW, please complete your profile with OS and SU version. It'll be helpful in the future.

I have posted 2 new models to the new Trimble warehouse... one three months ago and another 1 month ago. Both of them are still awaiting the Trimble auto-rendering robot to do the task of giving my models an image! We used to upload our own images and they appeared right away but no longer. Now we await an automated process to do it for us that clearly does not work!! eatc7402
