Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Thanks folks!. Yes you can. I've been doing it for years and it works exceptionally well. Matt Donley and I co-authored a book on my process. You can see it here http://www.sketchupbook.com

Thank you for the responses, Fredo6 was able to do it. Just needed to explode the curve as per the authors instructions above. Very nice little program. Regards. [image: iX3A_StretchusingFredo6.jpg]

Alan, you've dredged up an ancient topic. Things have changed since then. Google hasn't owned SketchUp in over 4 years and the 3D buildings that show in Google Earth are not SketchUp models like they were back when they did. You can search the 3D Warehouse to see if the original author might have shared the model or if someone else has created a model. If you have no luck, you'll most likely need to create the buildings on your own.

Ok.. tried it and it was a bit too aggressive in how many stray edges it removed on the first run though on default settings... I will play with it and see if I can make it work. Thanks for the suggestion!

@fredo6 said: I see the issue with the MDI approach (so toolbar must be independent of model window), but I don't understand why the Sketchup team did not address some of the basic issues, such as the icons for New, Open, Save, as well as the size of icons in the main toolbar, the text size in most inspectors. After all, there seems to be many Mac users around, including Pro users. Fredo We Mac users often wonder about the same things (and more). It seems that the Mac GUI has gotten very little attention compared to Windows and things like my.sketchup, starting all the way back when Google bought SketchUp and continuing through Trimble's ownership.

As srx suggests, you can draw the table top as an array of wedges or you can draw radial lines to divide the top into sectors. Hide the edges after you applied the texture. The top on this table was drawn by making a wedge-shaped sector which was then copied into a radial array. [image: 19208781128_0e5eb9e962_z.jpg]

This has been discussed frequently on the sketchup.com forum. Although Mac OS X is a UNIX variant, the GUI is proprietary to Apple and is very different from anything available on Linux. It would take a significant amount of effort to port the Mac version to Linux. Yeah, I've seen those discussions and as an IT guy myself, I understand and do not blame them for holding off. Still, one can hope!

Have you tried exploding the images. They will then become rectangle faces and images will convert to materials applied to the faces, but they will look the same as the original images. I don't know if Vray renders images, but it will probably render the project after exploding them.

@Srx - is this what you are referring to in your original post? Do you use solids for modelling the original shapes? If 2x yes, this might be a simple plugin I think. Edit: or not so simple as I thought. There is no easy offset method for loops / contours in the API. Detecting the upper boundary loop is easy but you would then have to make you own offset algorithm... [image: 58J8_split_walls.jpg]

In the end I did get in touch with the SuSolid software designer David Malnar, and he sent me a new copy of the plugin. All working now Once again, I thoroughly recommend SuSolid for anyone who's exporting STLs from Sketchup for 3d printing. Cheers, BP

@tig said: The error tells you the line and the file... Error: #<NoMethodError: undefined methodtransformation' for #Sketchup::Face:0x00000007b21748> C:/Users/tcw/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/SketchUp 2016/SketchUp/Plugins/engineeringtoolbox_tools/engineeringtoolbox.rb:26:in eval' Line 26 in engineeringtoolbox.rb A Face does not have a transformation. So I suspect that the code [I don't have it at hand] for '4x3 Concentric Reducer' is expecting you to have selected something that does have a transformation - like a group, component_instance etc... Have you read the usage instructions ? http://sketchup.engineeringtoolbox.com/concentric-eccentric-reducers-to_28.html TIG, Your clear explanation provided the direction needed. I actually had read through the instructions which is why I drew a circle on the floor and selected its face to place the new component on the floor. Guided by your answer, I made the circle a group and the component insertion worked as expected. Thanks, AustinPowered

I have this in my drawing program (PowerCADD). You hold a modifier key and snaps disable, similar to ortho constrain / un-constrain toggle.

@cuttingedge said: I have a model with lots of faces (less than a hundred) which i need to jointly extrude. i run Joint-push-pull and while the preview is almost real-time, the process took so long to complete. But when I wanted to undo the command (which is supposed to be one command). It simply wont undo and therefore messing up my geometry. Wish there's a better way to do this. Well, difficult to tell without seeing the model and having something reproducible. In any case, this is not intended and would be a bug Fredo
