Make it a component and save it to a component collection, then select and place it from the component panel whenever you need it.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

@cotty said: I'm wondering where you will get the needed info for the high dynamic range from a single JPG... How I've done it in the past is to create false exposure images and use an HDR creating software to juxtapose them into a single HDR. It's tricky and fake but you can do it. The things to take care are light sources. My theory is that if you lower your image brightness in any software like gimp, then duplicate the background layer, and screen it with the layer below, only the brightest parts will enhance. If you save the image and repeat the process, you will have several images that you can use for braketing and create an HDR. It did work for me at the time, but eventually nowadays it isn't worth the trouble, anyway I've come up with my own sky system for Thea (development stalled) that is able to render images with the sky system 4x to 10x slower than with Thea's native sky, but also allows Thea to generate any sky. Once I get the procedural right I'll give more info: Here's a couple of images rendered with the system: [image: cfbR_CASCASkyDirectRender-10secsrender.jpg] [image: 4xJ8_CASCASystemonthefly15secs2.jpg] [image: U8Nj_CASCASystemonthefly15secs1.jpg] And a gif of the system in action: [image: dgWOYYI.gif]

Dave this is a very well organized method to follow. I wish there was an easy way to print out a list of the plugin/ extensions I have installed so I could then just go through the list and check them off as I install them in the new version. This is also s good time to re- evaluate which ones I actually use and wether to install them in the new version of SU. Would be neat if someone could come up with a "migration tool" that would take your steps into account and walk you through the process. Once again, thanks for sharing you process. It is well thought out and logical.

@dave r said: @tgm said: What does the change in UI on v2017 have to do with the dynamic components on v2016? They changed the way the web dialogs work. they now use the embedded Chromium. This impacts the web dialogs for SU2016, too. They changed this partly because too many users failed to keep IE up to date and the web dialogs wouldn't work. @tgm said: I should be able to run each program independently of each other, correct? Mostly but not entirely. Just update SU Dynamic Component through the Extension Warehouse and it'll be OK.

I need to ask if someone might help me find what might be a problem... I tried several times to install new Sketchup 2017 on my notebook and it every time fails to install prerequisites with following error message "Component Universal CRT (Hotfix KB2999226) has failed to install with the following error message: "The installer for the Universal CRT (Hotfix KB2999265) timed out after 10 minutes. Please restart your computer and try the SketchUp installer again. If this does not fix the problem, use Windows Update to install the latest updates and try again. (Trimble Code 6)" The following components were not installed: Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 (x86 and x64) The following components failed to install: Universal CRT (Hotfix KB2999226) See the setup log file located at 'C:\Users\muhammed\AppData\Local\Temp\VSDBA10.tmp\install.log' for more information."

Your looking at 2 different Libraries... the second is your hard drive which SU hasn't used for years unless you or a rouge plugin makes it... check in your Home/Library/ from Finder, they are in there... john

save regularly and use File >> Revert to 'jump' back to that last save... no other way I know of, unless your writing your own ruby scripts... john

I don't really understand your question, in particular the part about "a curve remains fixed". If it remains truly fixed, it will not reach the moved edges, and if it stretches to stay connected it is not "fixed". If you are asking how to make the area larger without altering its shape, please take a look at the Scale tool. But if you are asking to have a second edge move in the y direction when you move a first edge in the x direction (ignoring the question above about the curve staying "fixed"), there is no built-in capability to do that in SketchUp. It would require an extension or perhaps a Dynamic Component to program this special behavior.

Dave, That's what I figured was happening. So far, I am IMMENSELY happy with 2017. Whether real or not, everything feels a lot more "zippy"! Ralph Richards, Fowkes & Co. Organbuilders

@lotus222 said: "Tip: Is the Add License area grayed out and inaccessible? This means you have installed SketchUp Make instead of the SketchUp Pro trial. If having two versions of SketchUp on your computer might be causing problems, try uninstalling SketchUp and then installing only the version you need." To clarify, that message refers to having both Make and Pro installed for the same SketchUp version, e.g. 2016. It does not refer to having 2015 and 2016 both installed. Each 'year-version' of SketchUp installs completely independently of all the others, including the license file, and you can have multiples ones installed and running at the same time.

Was the wall you were attempting to select on the "cut" side if an inactive section cut? Did you close sketch up and re-start and try to select same? Charlie

nice challenge! When working with curviloft I get the best results if: I have the same segment count in every profile + vertices at the same relative position If possible, I only make 1 half and mirror the final result. Its more easy modelling and no problem determining which vertex is the start of the profile etc with complex shapes I sometimes only loft a few segments at a time and afterwards attach those lofts together (split the whole shape up in multiple parts if needed)

@bob james said: @jim said: Bob, if you happened to add that Layer using my Add Layer extension, it may have been set to be not visible for any new Layers added to the model. Any chance of that? Thank you, Jim, but I just right-clicked on the scene tab The Layers Panel extension may also have the ability to add Layers which are off on new Scenes. Did you get the model from someone else who may have used either extension? It would be interesting to examine the actual model.

64-bit doesn't necessarily mean faster. How about updating your profile?
