Using Sketchup for the whole process?
-
Hi everyone

I normally sketch, create elevations, plans and sections in Revit.
Then i link the revit file into 3ds max where i create illustrations.Sometimes when i need more control over textures and need to do fast adjustments to details, i export the drawing as dwg and then model and render in sketchup.
I find sketchup very fast and intuitive, and have used it on / off for over ten years now.
I wonder if i can create a complete project in sektchup? by this i mean
- plans
- sections
- elevations
- illustrations (i now i can)
and set them up on A3 paper.
I have tried some years ago, i think it was when paper layout was introduced. But i found it very troublesome and hard to get the needed drawings, especially nice plans, as sketchup is using faces, and not solids - so i needed to use some plugins to add faces to section cuts - what a hassle it was.
I wonder if things have chanced since? what are your experiences?
Thanks

You should look at the work of architect Nick Sonder.

Thanks folks!.
Yes you can. I've been doing it for years and it works exceptionally well. Matt Donley and I co-authored a book on my process. You can see it here http://www.sketchupbook.com
