Downloaded 2016 trial and the extensions I like to use. Positioned the toolbars where I want them, but next time I boot up they're all over my workspace. SU8 (which I was using previously) had a "Restore Toolbars" in "View/Toolbars". Any way to keep them docked?

        Hi
Since SU2016 there is the new "Tray" system for the tool windows.
Among others, here is a good video about using and organizing these Trays:

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfG3RVWAFCo

        The Icon“s positions:
Open just one(!!) SketchUp and place your Icon bars, where you want them to be.
Once you have set up your icons as desired, save this file once correctly - from now on,
when you start SU2016 new, your icons will be at the right place...
Theese Icon“s positions will not get distorted if you change your SkUp“s window in size, in
contrast to older versions which is good ...

That's odd behavior. Since the switch to the new toolbar manager (SU2014?), I've never had toolbars shift positions like I used to with earlier versions. In SU8 it was awful. Since then I've never found a need for the Restore Toolbars.

When you installed SU2016 did you start the exe using Run as administrator or did you just use Run? It does need to be installed with Run as administrator.

You are right Dave and I have formulated unclearly.
With "older versions" I meant v8 with which Tellekutan compared...

Thanks guys! I should have been clear that it was Plug-In and Extension toolbars I was talking about. I positioned everything where I wanted, saved as a new template, closed, then tried "Run as Administrator" from the desktop icon. That did the job. Thanks for that suggestion, Dave.

                I'm glad that worked.

For what it's worth, templates do not save toolbar positions.

I thought maybe not, but didn't hurt to throw it in. Haven't done much of this stuff in six years, so a little rusty, as well as being not-too-knowledgeable in the nuts & bolts area. However, I've grown to absolutely rely on SU to aid in making my living and will probably be working on a model on my deathbed.
