@Rich-O-Brien Thanks Rich. Now I know that I can share the link with Fredo6 on the Animator thread so he can download the file and look at it (to hopefully identify the problem I have been having trying to generate a video). You might also try generating an Animator video and see what results you get.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Interesting, same end result I got. However, I never ever did (knowingly) a projected texture, and I have no idea of what use it really is. I just played around a bit and the simple fix is to bucket (re)paint the distorted faces from the materials drop-box, not from entity info, as I had always done before.

Hi TIG, thanks for the tip. @tig said: Bear it in mind for next time... That's the big problem! Often you can't remember on the name of the corresponding plugin. I think many of us will have the same problem. I have to create a list with small notes for the plugins that are used less frequently. Charly

Hi, Fredo's is pointing out the load errors from other rubies, it's meant to... the errors are all SketchUp example rubies. It looks to me like you moved those out of their folders... Do you have a folder called Examples? in the plugins folder, if not make one and put those into it, except ocean ruby which should be in Ocean folder if you do have 'Examples' folder you could try changing it to 'examples' i.e. lowercase. failing that... if you put the example.rb into the Examples folder [both are in the plugins folder] that will stop the messages. also do the same for ocean_extension.rb into Ocean folder... if your trying to learn ruby [which is what they are really for] load them from ruby console and see what errors you get then. or it may be a Lion issue... john

In case of this particular material, probably a simple, planar projection would work well. Can you post the file? (That pipe would just do).

@beavie said: I've been searching through the ruby scripts looking for something that maybe makes broken lines whole? I don't want to import into vectorworks, then have to manually remove all broken lines... time consuming... Have you looked at "Remove Lonely Vertices"? http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=37619&p=332047&hilit=remove+lonely+vertices#p332047 Use it as you work and when you export.

Maybe treat it as a tablecloth, to drape, so to speak, and model it upside down. Mindful that the dangling portion will need to be cinched up, or gathered. Now, I am thinking that you may approach this like modeling a teardrop. That suggests that you could start with a basic Sketchup UV sphere or a Geodesic sphere as one element, extend it, or stretch it, or scale it upward, form a 2d profile resembling gathered fabric, progressively/ sequentially pushpull and scale for a "few" reps, then tie a rope around it when you get tired. That's probably what I would try, without getting into plugins.

Thanks for the advice decided to stick with many components and groups as sometimes will also use max to model and alter parts of building. Found that using a script to clear missing bitmaps and unused materials helps with the multi subobject materials problem. May in future try using colour by layer in Sketchup and doing my texturing in max.

It looks to me as if you've just moved the axes. The thing to do is right click on the origin and choose Reset. You might find it easiest to hide the model or at least the part of it in the vicinity of the origin before doing that. You don't need to delete anything though. Unhide with Edit>Unhide.
