Exporting Models

I recently used sketch-up to complete a set of building plans for a renovation. However, once I imported it into the CAD system I had to spend a lot of time adjusting line weights and fixing broken lines.

Are there ruby scripts out there that make the transition from SU to CAD more efficient?

but... your question lacks a lot of information for anyone to respond thoughtfully.

what version of mac osx, what version of SU [free/pro], what file formats are required by what CAD program, what is the quality of your drawing, ect...

there's a lot of 'prior knowledge' available here but only if people have the information needed access your circumstances.

so I suggest post a sample, update your user info, add pertinent details, then you may get more than just a belated welcome.

but in general,

clean and purge your drawing first. [plugins available]

check your export options match expected import options. [plugins available]

Thanks for the reply John. I'm on OSX 10.6.8, SU 7 pro, exporting DXF from Vectorworks 2010. Quality of drawing...?

I've been searching through the ruby scripts looking for something that maybe makes broken lines whole? I don't want to import into vectorworks, then have to manually remove all broken lines... time consuming...

Also, is there a way to export from sketch-up to vectorworks, assigning different sketch-up groups or layers a pre-assigned thickness in vectorworks?

Have you looked at "Remove Lonely Vertices"? http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=37619&p=332047&hilit=remove+lonely+vertices#p332047 Use it as you work and when you export.
