Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Maybe your model is very large, or located far away from the origin.

Hello remus Thank you for your reply. I already have Layer Manager v6 installed, but there is no functionality for this feature. I am still searching. The workaround is to open an additional SU window and a coy of the file in question, rename a suitable layer to make a replica copy of, and copy and paste an object on that layer into the target file in the other current SU window. This is surely more time consuming, hence the request. Kind Regards Syd

Copy with Move+Ctrl has functions above the Edit>Copy etc You can Copy with a base point by picking a start using inferencing and then typing in an offset, using axis locking (shift) etc etc. You can also multi-copy as an array using NNx or NN/ after making the first copy to set the number made after/between. Similarly Rotate+Ctrl make copies about a centre and again NNx or NN/ sets the number of copies after/between

@anssi said: I quite liked the original @Last forum with no eye candy at all. We all did - and I remember very well all the discussions we had, when Google decided to move to Google Groups... (which nolonger seem to exist in the form it had when they moved all the content...) The @Last forum was using the commercial vBulletin forum software, while the SCF is using the free Open Source phpBB forum solution...

I'm not sure what the problem is, but doubt that it's just a simple SU bug. I was playing around yesterday with seeing what a basketball court looked like using stained wood rather than just colours for the markings...so I imported a number of versions of a very large scale wooden floor texture. each one was 2048 x 1024 pixels; and I had no problem at all...well other than SU resampling the texture to a lower resolution.

thanks for the tip, not dumb at all.. actually is the first thing the getting started tutorial says but I never check it, and I think many others do the same, then we get all troubles with resizing textures

I have a script called scale2face.rb that stretches selected components/groups up to touch selected faces above them - used for elongating columns etc up to the underside of sloping roofs etc etc... Here's a reworked version 'scaledown2face.rb' that scales them downwards... (c) TIG 2009 scaledown2face.rb Usage: Select face(s) & group/component-instance(s) located ABOVE face(s). Unacceptable selections produce error dialogs Pick 'ScaleDown2Face' off the Plugins Menu or type scaledown2face in the Ruby Console. The selected items will be scaled downwards [in the Z] until their CLs meet the face or faces. Any intermediate faces etc are ignored; the scaling passes through them. It has a one step undo. Version: 1.0 20091201 First Release [based on scale2face].For the Plugins folder...

The flatten I used was a different flatten from Thom's script. I sovled the problem by editing the end points manually. I will have to try "tt-flatten" . Thanks Thom.

Sounds like a one liner require_all("/any/folder") is all you need (defined in sketchup.rb.) But as TIG said, not all scripts are made to work from any folder.

Hi folks. I use small icons to be able to fit more tools in less space. Being 56 do not means that I necessarily need large icons To choose the size of icons you can also use Menu Window --> Preferences --> Workspace. Just ideas.
