Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

@eric_j said: @ All Actually, what StyleBuild could do is allow the user to generate architectural styles. Insert generic doors and windows. Click on "Colonial Style, and the windows are divided light double-hung numbers. "Mediterranean" and they're casements. "Ranchburger" gives you aluminum sliders with no casings. Etc. If it did that, it would be more than a dust collector, I think. Sounds like Dynamic Components are a good candidate for that.

I would think that something like this is crying to be a dynamic component. Just scale it to length and it auto-calculates the actual width. But I am a complete newbie and someone might have objections to dynamic component creation. Rick

For the next Rendering Workshop, I have chosen some basic Kitchen items - which will "highlight" reflections. (excuse the pun). Rendering Workshop - Reflection This Workshop will be too easy for the master renderers on SCF. (It is intended for new users who want to learn more about reflection). But drop by anyway and offer your tips. [image: file.php?id=37922]

Here is a first shot at this. I made everything 50% reflective, and added 3 lights on the ceiling, and a room around it. First, the wide model (left to right) makes it hard to show good results on a forum. It might be better to reposition things so the overall scene is more square. I did this to make a better image. You can upload the new model here: kitchen3.skp [image: mffA_kitchen2.jpg] The obvious problems are: The three lights in the ceiling add some highlights, but the reflections would probably be more impressive with a more interesting ceiling, walls, etc. Bronze phone has white highlights rather than bronze nightlights. Teapot looks too plastic I wanted the top of the coffee pot to have a chrome look. Lets see what we can do to improve this.

Did you check the glueing like was mentioned? Please verify. Also, is there any chance that the group was created by a ruby plugin? There could be a known bug there if it was. Chris

I used the sandbox tools to make some quick terrain but the bumps are not showing well in KT. (I know use a bump map) So I tired the "color by Z" plugin and I thought I could make a bump map of the terrain to use in KT. The color by Z gives a color to all the different faces based on height and these faces show up in KT as different colors (obviously) si I could work with each face individually. I'm not sure where I am going with this....but all I wanted was some quick landscape around the bridge. Does this make sense? @al hart said: The locked feature on groups and components is marked as SU 6. If it was added that recently, I wonder why they didn't invent some kind of owner/password scheme for it. (Of course, it they had, someone would have had to find a way to remove the password - e.g. save as DAE and reload.) I just checked with SU5 - no locking feature. Though, the manual never reports anything less than SU6. The Locking is like you'd use in Photoshop, Illustrator etc, as Jeff mentioned. Also in AutoCAD. It's not to prevent other people from ever from editing it. It's just a safety mechanism to protect you from yourself when you're being a bit zealous with the selection tool and eraser. I use when I import CAD plans into SU to model from. I lock the imported plan while I model on top of it. That way I ensure that I don't confidentially move the plan around and mess things up. Password protecting it would be going a bit far. Locking is just something which forces you to be 100% conscious that you actually want to edit/delete an object.

I have tool that changes the number of segments in multiple selections of arcs/circles - rather like the Entity Info does for one arc... However, like Entity Info it can't change them if they have connected geometry that is not coplanar... Only works on arcs that don't have 3D faces etc connected to them... Remaking an 'arch' is the only way - of course if the model were set up using repetitive components etc then it might be less time consuming ?
