If you select an object in your sketchup model and then right click, at the bottom of the list you will find Vray Object ID which you can then use to assign values to various objects in you scene. Then if you have an object id render element you will see object rendered a color based on the value you assigned them. The colors are randomly assigned but everything you assign as 1 will be the same color. It takes some fiddling with and I find that material id usually does the job better but you never know when this would come in handy.

Yeah, I hear ya...you would have loved trying to figure out the settings in Vray 1.48 then! Made you feel more like a nasa engineer than a 3d artist..they've really simplified things lately. But yes, that's why I always recommend moving the slider back to a default 'low, medium, or high' setting and starting from there. Then just change one parameter at a time doing a small region render to experiment and see if the change brings anything to the table (or takes away....). I like to enable history in the VFB, the 'H' button at the bottom, then in settings enable 'automatically save'. Then each 'region render' you do automatically saves and you can easily look at the however many quick region renders you did and compare the time. Even if the regions are taking 15 seconds to render, you know if you change a setting and now it's taking 30 seconds...it probably going to adversly effect the time the whole rendering will take... I was recently troubleshooting lighting in an interior kitchen scene. Render was taking +/-90 minutes. I did render region renderings around one can light and tried some different settings, then did a region rendering around a few other lights, then on to a region showing a cabinet and floor and played with some other settings along with sun/environment settings. Long story long: In 30 minutes of troubleshooting I dramatically increased the quality of the image and brought the render time down from 90 minutes to +/-30 minutes, or less depending on angle rendered. (I also added some fill lights to help with some darker areas, less noise to clean = faster render) Remember every scene will be different and have its own factors so you'll always need to play with/experiment with some settings here or there. Good to start from defaults and tweak settings one at a time and evaluate them carefully....and don't be afraid to just reset to defaults and start over if you stray to far from the path.... Hope you're getting things worked out, cheers!

Turn off "Progressive" on Renderer sub menu (left Tab),and now you can see "Bucket size" menu appear on Sub menu off Optimization (Right Tab). Bucket size is similiar to Region Divison. I hope this can solve your problem. i'm sorry for my bad english...

@kimi kimi said: Go to refraction layer of the glass and change color from black to white. Or just replace all the glass with standard V-Ray glass. Thanks! I changed the refraction color from black to white and worked. [image: GytF90v.png] [image: M39nq58.png] [image: XyV6P2Z.jpg] [image: 3rNpfqd.jpg] Thanks! Since the problem was solved, is time to close this thread.

In the V-Ray Asset Editor... Do you have SunLight Enabled? Or Do you have a V-Ray Omni Light Enabled instead? You might need to disable the omni light and re-enable SunLight.

Hi, I am not totally sure what you are asking can you be more clear? Are you having trouble with camera clipping the model? If so here is video tutorial to solve it... https://youtu.be/CCd89LuRV_g Best regards Rafael

Hi Flordelis, I was facing the same problem: trying to mask out the background through glass with complicated shapes (trees...) in the foreground. In my search I came up with this solution, which is not perfect but did the trick for me: glass material: in the refraction menu, set 'affect channels' to 'all channels', set refraction color slider to the right (completely white) add 'background' to your render elements, this can be then be used in postproduction to mask out your background, also through glass As you can see, it is not the perfect solution since it only seems to work when the refraction color is set to white, but maybe it can be of any help! Good luck!

... not what you asked for but since I use for the most part renderers, which need CPU power in particular (such as Shaderlight, ArtLantis or RenderIn) this machine would be a dream for me. Although the core clocking is not the fastest one this amount of 16 (32) cores would compensate that. Perhaps you intend to use such other renderers parallel to Vray as well, this would be an excellent setup and the price is super...

Make sure that your grass is a separate object from the pool tiles (or anything else really). Also could be that your grass object has a thickness and that's what i'm seeing come through the pool tiles (hard to tell from looking at this picture). This isn't needed, a flat plane works for grass too.

http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=58560, first of all I must thank for kind feedback and confess that due to the fact thaat my book covers V-Ray V2x version it would be great if I had the chance to prepare a book on V3x version of V-Ray as it is more user friendly... As the change rates are so fast that it seems I must wait for V4x...

Mind-blowing questions! Just put camera lower, make FOV way LARGER, lift camera's target up. I atrongly believe you could find the solution by yourself
