If that is group or component try exploding it first and see if a scale of that texture is changed. Also, are the faces of your floor object inverted?

Thanks Doppel, I uninstalled VRay and it immediately began running at a normal speed again. The issue was occurring for all file sizes, even upon starting a new file without any materials or parameters at all. Thanks again! Andrew

I just stumbled over my last question, here is a possible answer: thea render does the job for me, can be called via undocumented TH4SU.render("output.jpg") { callback.call } Has some flaws but generally works well.

Which version of VRay and SketchUp? If you are on the latest version, head over to the Chaos Forums. They are a little more active then these VRay forums these days and someone from Chaos might be able to help.

@teknoel said: You probably have some broken links to your image file. Luckily V-ray has a tool for archiving and repathing your images. under extensions look for v-ray>file path editor. this will help you fix the offending textures. Just had it happen to me last week and this is the correct solution. There was a map that could not be located on the network.

Hi, I had the same problem - on some surfaces in one SketchUp model the scaling of texture (in Materials Tray - Edit - setting different size of texture) was working, on some not (it was the same type of surfaces - wall). In SketchUp the size of texture was changing, but in the Vray render not. I don't know why but it helped to reverse the problematic faces and add the material with the texture again. Then it worked. If someone have the same problem, I hope this will also help him.

add context: trees, a road, cars and a background image 2: Use a domelight with an HDRI texture might help having some more realistic reflections on your walls and glass 3: use 2 point prospective as stated above

According to some rumors on the web, Nvidia will release a new 1180 card this summer. If you can wait a bit - I would expect a small price drop for the 10-series at that point as well.

hello, I knew of a software which made a transfer between v-ray sketchup and v-ray max properties, just that I miss its name at this point. It was a script for 3ds max which imported material properties such as glossiness factors and bumpiness slots... Though it can't be FULLY compatible since 3ds max is a different modeling platform than sketchup and will never be completely compatible with, also v-ray for sketchup is totally different than 3ds max one. And if you know your parameters you can apply them in v-ray for max too . I know you don't like working twice on something, but that's the best way sometimes. LE - here it is : http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=322&t=63625 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCKJIWw2_lE

I think it's because GPU rendering is fairly new technology comparing to CPU rendering, so i believe it's just a matter of time that will support every feature like in CPU.

@cleeman10 said: Hi guys. I just downloaded a bunch of vismat files. When I open them in V-ray, the material looks different from the preview jpg included with the vismat file. When I open the vismat and see the preview IN v-ray (not the preview jpg) it looks different and much worse from what it should look like. It is a different color from the diffuse bitmap texture entirely, the reflection is out of whack... I don't know what's going on. It's like this for every vismat I just downloaded from vismats.com I've attached some pictures to explain my situation. Thanks in advance!!! It's a colour space issue. Go to the diffuse slot of the material and click on bitmap. Change the colour space from screenspace to linear space or vice versa. I personally, would prefer to go with custom gamma and specify what I'd like the material to look like instead. Usually a value of 0.5 works for me.

the link to the image file has been broken. V-ray can no longer find the source file. the new version has a file path editor that will help you fix this. go to extensions/vray and look for file path editor.

Judging by the description this should work with Sketchup also, so this would be the easiest option for SU to Unreal workflow, at least to ones who use Vray for rendering in SU?
