      Hello everyone!
I have a problem that I tried many things and can't solve.
I'm making an image with a window and a balcony on the outside. The alpha image is showing only the window and ignoring the balcony. And with that I can't put a background image in photoshop, because it would make the balcony disappear.
      Anyone with the same problem?
I'm using sketchup 2017 pro and vray 3.4, never had this problem with earlier version of vray.

        Hi florderis,
Have a look at balcony's material parameters. There sould be 'Alpha Contribution' under 'Material Options', make sure it's not 0. Check this official manual for material parameters.

That's not working. I've tried -1 in both of them, 1 in both of them and -1 in one and 1 in the other.
The glass only appears in the alpha channel when it's in -1, and keeps ignoring the balcony. =/

            Hi Flordelis,

I was facing the same problem: trying to mask out the background through glass with complicated shapes (trees...) in the foreground.
In my search I came up with this solution, which is not perfect but did the trick for me:

            • glass material: in the refraction menu, set 'affect channels' to 'all channels', set refraction color slider to the right (completely white)
            • add 'background' to your render elements, this can be then be used in postproduction to mask out your background, also through glass

As you can see, it is not the perfect solution since it only seems to work when the refraction color is set to white, but maybe it can be of any help!

            Good luck!

            Ana
