Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed reply!

It's a real shame Sketchup hasn't fixed this error in years, but good to know I've got a workaround I can use for the moment πŸ‘

If you have installed SketchUp using 'Run as administrator' and are still getting this issue then your Graphics Card is suspect.
    To find your GC details...
Open Control Panel > Device Manager
Find the 'Display adapters' entry and expand it.
Your GC details should be shown.
Right-click on that entry and select 'Update Driver Software...'
When prompted let Windows search the www for the latest driver.
SketchUp v2017 needs OpenGLv3.0 or higher - most now offer 4.0.
Some GCs are known to be robust [e.g. most Nvidias], a few are flaky [some Intel/Radeon] and need therefore special attention...
If updating the GC's driver doesn't improve things, then post the full details of the GC so we can see if anyone has a fix...

Incidentally I think most of Fredo's extensions work in v2015 ?

I would also like to reply to your point about the Create Component dialog. I know that in this dialog for example, you can choose on which plane you would like to glue the component, including the layer it needs to be in. Funny thing is due to my work around, I never see this dialog. So for me it would be nice to have the dialog pop-up when I convert a group to component. πŸ˜„

Thanks for the help, I'm gonna try to find a solution!

As for the Create Component window opening you you can give it a name and set the axes and gluing attribute, that does happen in SU2017. The alternative to get that window in earlier versions is to explode the group and then immediately make a component.

This looks like it may be a VRAY related problem. Uninstall VRAY from SU and see if this resolves the problem.

I will try to reinstall SU2017 as admin, but fairly certain that isn't the issue... the same thing happens on my personal computer as well where I only have an admin account.

You missed a very important part of my reply to you.

    @unknownuser said:

Being the system admin is not the same so you would still need to use Run as administrator.

Being the administrator for your computer IS NOT THE SAME. You need to use Run as administrator from the menu after you right click on the installer. See this.

What do you get if you send the scene to LayOut and export a PDF from there?

Thanks guys, mine has started working again. Considering all the other "tool tips" (Thanks Rich) work I would call that a "Bug":)

This sort of behavior is typically related to the graphics card and its drivers and isn't a SketchUp bug. This is especially the case when the behavior changes after a period of use. SketchUp 2017 requires graphics cards that are up to handling OpenGL and handling it well. There's no offloading the graphics card's work to the CPU as in older versions. With Windows, the user can try to update the graphics drivers from the card's maker. With Mac it's not usually possible to do that. The graphics drivers are part of OS updates that Apple pushes with some frequency.

    I can replicate it.
With a radius ~1" the segments should be long enough to exist, do it fails.
So the in-built 1/1000" issue should not kick in as the segments are considerably longer than that.

Making it say ~2", then it does not present the issue at all...

    TIG,
Thank you. I don't remember ever hearing about that.
Although moving away from the edge, intersecting and moving the result back to the edge leaves segments that, if deleted, deletes the whole brown filling of the plane!

After deleting them and redrawing the right edge in two parts ending with the circle segment restores the fill with the hole breaking the edge, BUT, the hole in the center is filled in and not clickable for deletion. Mission sort of accomplished.

    Deleting segments deletes the fill

It seems likely that the following error message from Install-CheckUp.exe references an incorrect MS Hotfix:

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14422260/Screenshot%202016-12-07%2002.50.23.png

It appears the necessary Hotfix is KB2999226, not KB299926, as that's what comes up in all web-searches. I have not been able to verify this via installation, but KB299926 does not appear to exist.

which version of Window are you using? Also, 32-bit or 64-bit?

I just got word from someone on the team. They said this is actually expected behavior due to Mac not recognizing the SketchUp materials. It's not a SketchUp bug but more an operating system thing.

They didn't remove these options in SU2017. They both do work but it might be your graphics card isn't up to the task. What kind of graphics card do you have in your Mac?

This is one of the known problems SketchUp has with very high dpi displays:

If 1920x1080 is "very high dpi" then their first problem is that they haven't moved into the current decade yet.

Please re-read the earlier posts. He was talking about 3000x2000, which I think is still considered very high dpi.
