Damn thats fast, I tired it on my MBPro 2.3GHz i7 8GB DDR3 and it took about 20 seconds although I dont have a solid state drive But when purchasing it I decided against they are so expensive and you dont get much space compared to the price of a regular drive just the cons of speed and durability. @tig said: It is the angle between the 2 radii at the 2 ends of the chord... Right. After reading your post a few times, I realized that I was looking at the whole thing wrong (way over thinking it ) Your post made me realize there's a right triangle (or 2) in there. Right triangles I can deal with ok.

@tfdesign said: I tell you, Rhino is the AutoCAD killer for the Mac. It's so much faster than ACAD Mac. Thanks for the info Jeff. I was telling You - when You compare 30MB lighting faster Rhino with 1GB memory hog, slow and buggy AutoCAD...And v5 has improved their render a lot. And You gonna love Rhino layers - You can have sub-layers and sub-sub-layers - it is real tree structure. You can hide objects per layout viewport - not just by layers. And speaking of the pure 2 drawing capabilities - Rhino has much more drawing tools compared to AutoCAD. Not to mention the huge import-export file formats - truly open system, not like AutoCAD where they expect everybody to use only dwg format!

@unknownuser said: or also why not : always right or left at each fork! i could see that working out in certain cases but it could also lead to bad selections.. i dunno, i think the key would be making it very quick to call up.. ie- no dialog boxes etc.. maybe a settings dialog or something if deemed necessary.. standard select is spacebar and i'd try to set this one to shift-spacebar.. i'm pretty sure i, and a lot of other people, would use it quite a bit..

well, yeah, that's what i do sometimes.. definitely not a single click process though.. and even then, i don't do it as often as i should.. seems like i usually end up resorting to the toolbar because stopping to set up a shortcut kills the workflow.. thing is, i'm often left trying to find the icon on the toolbar etc.. i dunno, it's just an idea that i'm throwing out there.. i'm not expecting someone to actually write this thing

It almost erks me when I see all the options skaters have these days! It would be 32 years ago now at the age of 14 we would each other weekend ride our bikes 20 odd kilometres to skate in a disused pool that had more cracks than jeff's has geometry! Why does the fun just get better later? Nice model Jeff!!!!

Jeff, I can see the faceting of curves in Sketchup as being a big issue. It is to me as well. My background is mechanical engineering and I have used many different CAD systems over the years. All of them used true arc and circles so this was never an issue. Of course they also had filleting (Corner Curves) which could easily solve your problem in one step. All could create a fillet between two lines, arc and line, or two arcs. In your case it would be between the left arc and the horizontal line at the bottom right. All that said I wonder about your need for accuracy in this case. In the real world everything has a tolerance and not suprisingly when you start to build things over 6 to 10 feet your measuring tools start to throw their own errors into the mix. For instance how accruate do you think a tape measure is? Sag, flex, temperature, material and other factors add to the issue. This is why in building construction an error of 1/8 inch is an everyday occurance. Aerospace is the only industry I know of that has addressed the problem with any success. They are starting to use a new technology called indoor GPS. This uses infraRed lasers mounted around the ceiling with the receiver in a hand held measuring tool. The user takes hits on the object to be measured and the 3D coordinate data gathered is uploaded and overlaid on the original CAD model. Boeing developed it.
