@steved said: Hey Jeff how did it go? pretty good.. there are two spots which didn't fully cure but they are tiny.. 1/4" x 1" strips on bare wood.. much better than the mess the first time around (24 joints-- failed cure 1/2" out in all directions leaving pliable fabric) i just wiped the area with acetone and put epoxy there instead.. all in all -- a bit of a nightmare but it's good now..

@dave r said: Jeff, I just tried the same sphere with JPP on my MacBook with OSX 10.6.8. It was just as fast as on my PC. yeah.. i had a corrupt plist file.. still wandering how it became corrupted in the first place but i'm back to normal now.. i briefly tried to find something weird in there and i came across these two entries.. [image: 3GGg_1.jpg] [image: 1ZQf_2.jpg] there's a jointpushpull and a joinpushpull1 (no 't' in joint?) i'm not sure if both of those should be in there and if not, i'm not sure how the extra one came into play.. maybe an older version? (i've been using this same plist for a while now.. transferred my su7 settings to it etc.. i dread refreshing my su environment but maybe this is a clue that i should do it now )

Hi Jeff I think what you are experiencing may have to do with a bug I ran into recently. Apparently windows and mac versions of sketchup have different ways of measuring text height! Simple test. Create a 3d object on the pc, using arial for example. Note the text height used. Save the file. Open that same file on a mac. Try and recreate the same text, using the previous parameters. Compare. ,!!! No matter what you try, they will not match.

@jeff hammond said: ...i am (sometimes) able to get the red X depending on my zoom level.. if i zoom out of the scene, i'm more likely to get the intersection snap to an outside object.. if i'm in close to the arc's endpoint, i only seem to get the 'on edge outside active' inference. My workflow would be: copy edge (that needs to be intersected) to clipboard. enter the context where the arc neds to be draw. Then 'Paste in Place' the edge. draw the arc which now has an edge in the same context to intersect. delete (one side of) the now divided edge. Or: just pre-draw a congruent edge in the same context where the arc needs to be drawn. draw the arc. delete (one side of) the now divided edge. So no messing around with trying to find an intersection with edges in other contexts. Thanks for the feedback Jeff.

@tig said: I think you'll need to at least make a temporary file and use some as/terminal/shell stuff ... osascript -e "tell app \"Finder\" to set the clipboard to (POSIX file \"~Documents/mytemp.png\")" perhaps i think something like that could work.. i found a way to do it with straight applescript (still using a temp file location) which eliminates using Finder.. set the clipboard to (read ("path/to/the/image.png") as «class PNGf»)

I was trying the " Watch Me Do" to automate pick window, didn't work how I tried. yeah.. watch me do doesn't work out as good as it seems.. super slow and whatnot.. i'm now messing around with the idea of getting the icon image via ruby instead of a screenshot or GUI scripting sketchup.. ruby confuses the hell out of me though ..i'll make a post in the developers forum real quick.. those guys will help me sort it out..

@slimdog said: Looks great. Cant wait to see the final project done. Do you just do the modeling or do you hammer nails and do project management? I modeled a small pump track for a costumer last year was way smaller but same ideas. Somebody please kill instagram. Cheers S i do it all.. first and foremost though, i consider myself a carpenter.. the computer is just another tool and the drawings are a means to an end.. (and my models aren't necessarily for others to read because i don't draw all the details or things that don't need worked out.. i generally just draw the key surfaces and/or templates etc then make cutlists from there.. that said, the computer does make the job a lot less stressful.. i can generate most of my numbers at night without all the saws/drills running in the background then just divvy up the cuts the next day.. plus, it gives me more confidence to build more complex structures because the computers can keep track off all the numbers etc so i don't have to focus so much on each little aspect..) but i also consult, sell, conceptualize, design, generate working drawings when necessary, estimate/order materials, lead the crew (of 8-10), project manage, and probably a few more things i'm forgetting at the moment re: instagram.. dunno.. it's way better than Facebook (at least for me)

@unknownuser said: i don't learn that way.. i wish all those api things had some examples in there (i.e.- type this and watch what happens The API entry for Entities#add_edges() has a straightforward and simple example to add edges to a Sketchup::Model object. (My point of number 1, in the previous post, is that only Sketchup::Entity subclass objects, can be added into the model's DOM (Documnet Object Model heirarchy.) Sketchup::Drawingelement is a subclass of Sketchup::Entity, and the Sketchup::Drawingelement subclass objects are what you "see" in a model, such as Edges, Faces, etc. @unknownuser said: the api documentation probably makes a great reference for someone that already understands the basics (which i don't) see and follow: Ruby Newbie's Guide to Getting Started

@driven said: not so much a quick, but how Su specifies the Nib files for all the sub-windows the majority are NSPanels that have been left as 'click thru' so that they 'don't' take 'focus' when clicked. To be honest, I understand almost none of that but the 'quirk' as best as I can explain it is under the circumstances I described, the focus doesn't 'click thru' to anything. It is as if the programmers are relying on a click in some window to set the focus explicitly when the app becomes frontmost, but did not consider that there is no click involved when a tool is selected via a keyboard shortcut. So in this case nothing 'takes' the focus, & the toolbar & pointer in the drawing window aren't updated properly. Does that make any sense?
