@tig said: I guess the group's axes' directions and the model's axes' directions differ ? Try exploding the group in place and immediately regrouping it so the axes reset, re-dimension and see if the dims are then fixed... If it's a component then you can try resetting the component's axes to mimic the model's axes directions etc. indeed, the axis were different. But I'm thinking now that the cause was a earlier mirroring, because after exploding/regrouping I changed the axis again, and everything stayed in place.

@broomstick said: I usually get the same result activating the Bucket (B) and then alt-click on the correct texture. That way when you click with the bucket on other faces, it will apply the material with the collected UVs Indeed, but the problem is how to set the "correct texture" because if you sample material from a face where was not "mapped" in some way, it will just sample the material. "Positioning" the texture does exactly that: assign UV on that textured face, so when sampling, you get the UV's too.

If something more complicated you can chose BPT or MLT (18..20) Thank you very much. It's done. I had no time to read user manual, is the first time ever when I use it for rendering... and I was in a big hurry.

Yes I agree, there is minor bugs in SketchUp. It's important to fix them to preserve quality about UI experience if they are too many. Some may disappear when a new version will be developed, without looking for, because some code may be re-write, or graphic support will be improved.

You can't format how a dimension is displayed, other than by setting it in your Model Info > Units settings - so if your precision is 0 there is no decimal reporting but a ~ will be added to the front of the number if it's no a whole number of meters. The other way is to edit the dimension's text and type in what you want to see - but then it looses its ability to update whenever its connected geometry changes - because it will always show that edited text. Incidentally, you can change a dimension's text AND keep the standardly formated 'numerical' part which will update, by using this syntax <>xxx - where the '<>' represents the dimension's standard output and the 'xxx' represents some text, like ' Site Dimension'; this additional text can come before the '<>', or after it, or on both sides...

@bjanzen said: Who can type before letting a hand off the mouse? We actually did notice this a long time back, and since it was different than SketchUp (you can do either in SketchUp), I think I filed a bug. But it's such a lower priority that it hasn't been addressed. Glad you noticed b @dave r said: Hey, no problem. sometimes it's just some little trick like clicking or not clicking that does it. Those little things become so automatic that it can be difficult to identify what it is that is the missing link in the process. My hope and dream as LayOut is improved under Trimble is that commands and pick sequences act the same from SU to LO. LO can be maddening at times when switching back and forth.

And that is exactly why PhotoScan is such a wonderful plugin/tool for such buildings like those in Trondheim (and other stuff) There is no way you can make any even slightly accurate model from one single photo without making some assumptions, like that some corners are square. With two or more photos you can calculate a points 3D position in 3D space and don't need to make any assumptions about the objects/buildings. In SU it is pretty easy to place any model into a background photo if you surround it with a helper cube with square corners that can be used for the position and perspective aligning.

@anssi said: I haven't noticed any difference. In 2D exports arcs and curves are exported as straight polyline segments. Anssi Actually, Sketchup Arc is recognized as Arc in AutoCAD and Curves as Polylines. But it must be something... on the way the coordinates are stored, or something about the vertices, because as I said, some of the Arc elements get mirrored about origin of the drawing when I import the DXF into that CNC software. So...that software (NC-HOPS) is expecting something from the DXF and AutoCAD dxfs offer, but Sketchup exported DXF does not, or offer differently.

It would be nice if the remove CG material plugin worked on the entire model OR on a selection only. Some plugins can make this difference by first checking if there is a selection.

Okay, I see. No, AFAIK there is no such function in Kerky. If you want to remove a wall, you have to remove it in your model prior to exporting. V-ray has some similar function but the solution is different I think; you assign a transparent material on one side and can see through but when inside, you can see the other material applied on that face of the geometry (or something like that).
