This program is amazing, still on the first day and finally have some time to mess around with it. It has almost every basic tool I depended on in a CAD Environment. Good times.

I was able to import my prefs. to my laptop without any problem but at work I was using someone else's computer and I tried to import the same prefs from the same jump drive and it it wouldn't import. I also had this same problem with a school computer.

I'm hoping it gets fixed in the next release / update of GSU. It's one of the most annoying things about GSU. I seriously don't know why this is still a bug, surely there is more than one way to fix this. Some other things I'd like to see in the next GSU release / update: high poly / large model support modern hardware support (specifically multi core CPU's) lighting issue seems to have been resolved by people developing a plug-in ATM bump mapping jolts between scenes when exporting an animation I'm sure there are some more things, but these (the above) are the ones that come to mind first.

Its certainly a strange problem, and i think its must vary with the amount of memory youve got available, as toxic suggess. I just had a quick play around and managed to export up to about 4500 with AA on, also had the task manager open at the same time, and SU does use a load of memory when exporting these big pics.

How crucial is it that its plain sawn? theres some good quarter sawn textures here. If all else fails you could always go take a few pictures yourself.

So the bezier spline bundle you mean (BTW that's Fredo6 not Rick). As Remus says; activate the toolbar from the View > Toolbars emnu.

unfortunately the profiled sheeting is a "trapezoidal sheet metal". shape and dimensions are taken exactly from the manufacturer's leaflet. but I ended up hiding half of the edges now. it doesnt improve very much, but at least its a bit better.

there is a very good script written by didier bur (Layer Manager) that can save layer states, that is, different groups of scenes that you can invoke at will. it does much more that that, of course. it is really worth a look. and it comes with a great user guide.

A little late , but I've recently been experimenting with post-processing sketchup output for a screentoned comic strip effect, and it's definitely possible to convert sketchup shading into hatched shading in photoshop or GIMP. If you separately export hidden line shading with edges of your choice and monochrome shading with no edges Put the hidden line shading on a layer in your image editor of choice, then put a hatched texture on a layer above it. Now use the monochrome shading (inverted) as a mask for the hatched texture. Play with the levels on the mask to change how dark an area has to be to get shading. Et Voila! Quick and dirty, but I did a sphere with two layers of hatching, one for only the darker areas by levelling its mask accordingly [image: BovM2lC.jpg] And here's a spaceship that I used this method to screentone (starting with a few more outputs - sun shading, flat colour, etc): [image: z7FkZtH.jpg]

I also have had this happen but as said earlier, this will have no effect (that I have found) to the final product. Even during rendering the skylights render fine. Scott

Thanks for the reply fbartels. I am on a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3G of RAM running OSX.5.2. I hadn't noticed this problem until today, but now it is consistent over a couple reboots and permission repairs.

you could in the outliner window select all geometry but the "mother component" you want to manipulate, right click it and choose "Hide" after manipulating the component, select all the hidden geometry and "unhide" it again. it is of course a bit laborious. but at least it is already possible. but I would love some improvements of the organisation of components too. for example that you can hide nestet components (created within the model) in the components window - you know, some kind of tree structure

I've managed to match the photos close enough now. I took some extra time to model some extra surrounding buildings for reference and ensure their height was correct. That helped alot. I don't use PhotoMatch to model buildings or extract textures from, just to get the correct perspective for the model so I can drop it into Photoshop and then work on it from there.
