Hi J, This is a know issue in SU (in fact you even got the "name" of it right), please, read this article about possible solutions. Also, if your model (area) should not be as big as described above, make sure there are no "stray lines" (resulted from sloppy drawing in a CAD program) somewhere far-raf away. Even a couple of cms/inches line fragments can cause this. Edit: the easiest way to find some remote stray lines that may be the "culprit" is to "Select all" (Edit menu or the "classical" Ctrl+A) and then zoom to extent. You will see odd selections far away (provided that you are in an editing context of a possibly grouped geometry).

@sorgesu said: Jim, this is especially usefull when making components that will be used in other models. In that case, you may not want all of your edges to be hidden, just the ones in the component. I am in the business of creating 2D face-me components and this script is very useful in quickly hiding without me having to edit the component and select, etc. Yes, it makes perfect sense when you say it that way!

This tutorial shows a technique that may help eliminating shading. http://www.bitbrush.com/tutorial1.html

@taffgoch said: Huh! Bizarre... ...actually it is there, but 'invisible.' I generally use the 'point at center' plugin for circles. I created a circle centered at the origin, used the 'point at center' context menu command, then deleted the circle. No guide point is visible, but if you select with the 'right-drag' select box, the 'entity info' box indicates a guide point is selected. Doing the exact same thing, just off center, creates and displays the guidepoint. Turning off axis visibility makes no difference, so that's not the problem. You can select and move the guidepoint, but it remains invisible! To me, this behavior looks like a reportable bug... Regards, Taff Yes, left>right selection reveals these guidepoints in 'Entity Info' but right>left does NOT! (*) Another thing is that they are actually there. Move them 50m from the origin and do a 'Zoom Extents'. You will zoom out in a way that these invisible points are on screen. I don't know how (in what way) they could contribute in causing the 'Clipping Plane' effect when they are far from the origin. You don't seem to be able to use them for snapping to. My advice: don't create any guidepoints in the origin itself. (you can snap to [0,0,0] anyway) Or maybe only with the 'Tape Measure' tool by draging from the origin (dashed line incuded) Wo3Dan (*) thanks Gaieus / (right is where your thumb is left, right? )

You can also do it dynamically. Click the zoom icon, hold down shift and click your left mouse button and move in and out.

Dear Remus,Pilou,Gaieus and Jean, I'm afraid i haven't found into your replies exactly what i'm searching for. What i need sometimes would be drawing an arc from point A to B and tape the length around the arc in the VCB (in place of the rope), leaving SU decide corresponding radius. // I Know A and B so i know length rope (rope) I know length around the arc (arc it's the value i want. I don't know angle (A), neither Radius (R) // (mathematic is a strange land to me) If i want an arc=t , i have to found R and A with rope value. R= arc/A and R= rope/2sin(A/2) => arc/rope= A /2sin(A/2) >> for me it's the end of the travel // others relations: A = 2 x arcsin(rope/2R) and ???§§§!!!=**@@ [image: arcsin.jpg] Sorry for so trouble

Good tuts guys. The tip about grouping after the intersect is very useful for the more complicated shapes. Thanks

@remus said: I think its probably a problem with the ATI driver. Have you tried selecting the 'correct reverse picking bug' option in th openGL settings? Hi Remus and tx for the super quick answer. I did indeed tried out that option too but it didn't help. Also what I've forgot to mention is that I have a dual boot XP/Vista. The same behaviour occurs also with Vista (it's even slower to zoomin/out)
