    Kind of pricey for a plug in though - $395 after the introductory period. That means modo is becoming sort of pricey also - $1495 for a license, $395 for this 'must have' plugin = almost $2000. I think when I bought my first license it was $695.

    I assume your scene is a 2D scene, coming from a photomatch? You can try 'Camera>Parallel Projection', then 'Camera>Perspective', then create a new scene. You should end up with a 3D scene with the same point of view. Vray should then handle it fine.

    whoops! I missed that version number... 1.48.93? Any reason you're not using at least 1.49.01? It was a free upgrade. You might end up saving enough time using the wrapper material in to justify the upgrade cost to 2.0. Depends on the learning curve required to do this all in post, and time it takes to actually get the result you want. Andy- I don't think there's really any other way around it, excluding what has already been discussed, aside from doing two separate render passes. One with just the model, and the other with the ground plane. That's how I would have done it back in the day.

    You can't change where we write temporary textures to, without breaking everything. 1.6 doesn't exist. That was a beta version, you should be on 2.0 now.

    you could also hack the VRayPlugins.xml file to modify this setting in 1.49.01... but that's a little dangerous BACK THE FILE UP, PRIOR TO MODIFICATION!!! <parameter handler="default" label="Use color texture as transparency" listType="none" name="use_color_tex_alpha_as_transparency" type="bool"> <value> false </value> <handlerinfo> <tooltip> Enable this if you wish to use the alpha from the color texture for transparency </tooltip> </handlerinfo> </parameter> just have to change the false to true

    There are a host of things you can do. Try using Catmull Rom AA filter and increase your Image sampler settings - Adaptive DMC Min 2 Max 12 Clr thresh .003 Increase your render size all of these things will increase render times dramatically.

    Hey Rich, Maybe it's just architectural work, or maybe I just need to delve into how Blender inferences. Snaps work just fine in Blender, but it's a pain to navigate because I'm always having to toggle it on and off if I am drawing. Does Blender follow line extensions and not just xyz coordinates? Any good tutorial reference about this you may be able to point to? I'm mildly curious. (I say mildly, as I am crunched for time as it is, and SU just gets me there damn fast. I hesitate to learn anything new currently.) Andy

    i messed around with this pumalogo.png and quad face tools.. originally did it with the yellow bricks but then deleted the brick layer in my image editor (i use pixelmator fwiw).. deleting that layer essentially does what i was talking about earlier regarding saving a png as a jpg in order to give a white background.. the neat thing about using this method is that once you get the uv mapped image into your photo editor, you can keep making changes and they update in your sketchup file.. so you only have to flatten it once then reapply and after that, it's really simple to make color adjustments.     If you are unable to upload the file then there must be something wrong with it. It looks like it is only 10 faces, and the textures are simple it should be a tiny file size. If you have huge amounts of stuff hiding in the file it can cause problems. Purge everything from the file and try to upload it again.
