@Rich-O-Brien Thanks Rich. Now I know that I can share the link with Fredo6 on the Animator thread so he can download the file and look at it (to hopefully identify the problem I have been having trying to generate a video). You might also try generating an Animator video and see what results you get.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

+1 All kinds of issues signing in. Sometimes it works, sometimes no... I get the message, "Authentication Error ! Something went wrong during the authentication process. Please try signing in again." Even after deleting the file as Pixero suggested. Solution - open IE (I use Chrome by default) and log into Extension Warehouse there, then open SU, go to Extension Warehouse, then I can log in again and it worked.

@nina792 said: HI! i was wondering if someone here can make me a big favor. Need to import this dwg to sketchup, but i don't have the Pro. If you open it, you'll see 2 equal drawings in 2d as a block and one exploded in 3D. I need just one of them; if its in 3D better, but if it's not possible i can work with the 2D See my post to you in another topic of the same nature.

@nina792 said: HI I WAS WONDERING IF SOMEONE CAN HELP IMPORTING THIS FILE TO SKETCHUP... THANKS IN ADVANCE Welcome to sketchUcation! Here you go with some help so you don't have to rely on other people: Convert DWG file to DXF. You can use a free program like DraftSight to do this. Navigate to the pluginstore, search: DXF Read through the results and decide which of the solutions you would like to use. And there you go! You're welcome!

For objects from manufactures in direct link inside a 3D Prog there is the incredible (free) PconPlanner : it has import/ export SKP format !

What are the OpenGL settings on the Pro version? Having Use Max Texture Size ticked on kills SU performance on large models.

Does it a big deal to use or on the fly ? Dave will be pleased : i have only used native tools! If you want a minimum and maximum, just draw 2 help guides: so you can move your objects between these 2 limits! [image: rVf9_GIF_big_deal.gif] [image: 5TsY_GIF_big_deal1.gif]

You need to set the default printer in the Windows printer settings.

@john2 said: ...in favor of AMD with respect to openGL support? steamcommunity. com fast OGL output for 3D gaming and an accurate OGL output for 3D modeling is a different thing. sure, bigger (x64) is better... not. Using the 32-bit version of SU will verly likely avoid issues with the flaky 64-bit OGL support of the AMD Crimson driver... has done it already at least for most other users. but hey, as always, it's up to you... live with the crashes or fix'em by using SU x32... at least until AMD provides an mature OGL x64 support. if ever buying a new device an SU relevant for you, go for a dedicated nVidia GeForce GT(X).

It seems that it was my components window. My history had a network location that was hosted on another machine in my home network so it was taking a killer amount of time loading that... i think. Once I removed it from the component browser history, it starts up in less than 5 seconds.

The most common way would be to use Intersect Faces. Can you share the SKP file so we can see exactly what you've got so far?

if you find it difficult to align the plane, make a plane by attaching the center points, top and bottom of both pipes, then draw a line from the mid points between the "top" to the same on the "bottom" then push pull the planes either way to get the intersection plane. (Top and Bottom maybe left and right depending on the orientation)

Here's their hand held unit, http://www.trimble.com/construction/DPI-8-Handheld-Scanner No experience with it. Then there is also their full size 3D scanners. Both create point clouds not images, but with the full size scanner, once it's done scanning, you can remove it from the tripod and using an adapter mount a camera and take pictures to cover almost 360Β°. This will give you images and can be used to colorize the point cloud also, though all in Trimble software of course.

@tig said: Try group.entities.add_instance(other_group.entities.parent, other_group.transformation*group.transformation) other_group.entities.parent.instances[1].material=other_group.material other_group.entities.parent.instances[1].layer=other_group.layer### you can also copy over other attributes of 'other_group' if appropriate other_group.erase! 'other_group' is 'cloned' into 'group.entities' and the original erased - here we also copy its material and layer... Thanks for this. Was useful. Of course, assigning names (variables) to each instance, makes copying layer straightforward; group2.layer = group1.layer

What I usually do is click on the photomatched scene. Then click add new scene. Orbit scene a bit and then click on the newly added scene. The background image will have disappeared. Now switch between the photomatched scene and the copy to see if they align. Hope this helps.

OBJ is another 3d data file. In Pro you can export in that format. There's an OBJ importer available... http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=obj_importer It has the option to flip the YZ axes as well as choosing units etc... It's slow, but free. There's also a paid importer by Fluid, that is faster. http://www.fluidinteractive.com/products/sketchup-extensions/fluidimporter/

@dave r said: I finally had a chance to look at the location in Google Eart. It appears the buildings were drawn in SketchUp after all. But the link provided to the model in GE is no longer valid. since they stopped accepting SketchUp models some time ago, it would indicate the model is old. I tried searching the 3D Warehouse for the listed authors but they don't seem to have a presence there. Contact google and maybe you'll have some luck. Thanks, I will try it.
