Make it a component and save it to a component collection, then select and place it from the component panel whenever you need it.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

I generally wait for a period equivalent of the time it takes me to go to the toilet.....if it hasn't responded by then I'll go and get a drink or make a cup of coffee and maybe even make a light snack.....if it's still a no show I wait wait another 5 minutes or so.... ....if that totals 15-20 minutes or so I generally lose patience and close it off and hope that most of it is still there when I reopen it.....!! For me it mostly happens when I import something like a large tree model, or if I have a complex shape using something like Shape Bender....although I will be more patient with Shape Bender because it generally comes good at some point, but sometimes it scares the crap out of me...!! I share your frustration though, especially if it happens when you haven't saved before it 'hangs'. Fortunately though, most often an 'autosave' will get me out of trouble more often than not...!!

@rv1974, do you always 'model' in 'Parallel Projection'? that can to cause weird outcomes unless using 'Standard Views' i.e. no orbiting... Peter, I assuming you don't... john

Yes, fortunately this extension saves the setting in an ini file, so I saw that it was modified and that debug mode was enabled.

Glad you got it sorted. FWIW, you always have to start with an existing style because it's impossible to have SketchUp open without a style. You can modify a style and even change its name without creating a new style if it is in the In Model library.

@baz88 said: however, whenever it gets that small the model messes up and i can't zoom in close enough. Make sure that the component/group origin stays in the near of the world origin while scaling with the scale tool. @baz88 said: I've tried scaling the 1:1 model by inputting 0.001 and it gets way to small to do anything. 1:300 results in a scale factor of 0,00333333333333333333333333333333... so it will be hard to enter it exactly

Yes. I guess that's it in a nutshell. If you choose the tool first, the offset will occur along all the edges that bound the face. Notice the face will be highlighted when you hover over it. Pre-selecting the edges gives you more control when you need it.

Thank you guys for the suggestions and replies. Unfortunately, I need the model to not have just 1 texture but to retain it's original tile texturing. Do I have any other options? Does Thrupaint have anything here that can help me? Is there any way I can paint through surfaces to all faces that are under the drop bucket tool?

I had a similar issue with a horizontal section plan through a house model getting flipped upside down after I used the scale tool to mirror the model right to left. I noticed that the section plane arrows went the wrong way and the cut showed the wrong half of the model. I was unable to select the shown geometry correctly. In Layout, the object snap feature wouldn't select geometry that wasn't right on the section cut. The Sketchup scene with the cut in question kept breaking: it would show the wrong half of the cut from time to time, and I would need to switch it back. My solution: I noticed that the axes of my house got flipped along with the house model when I used the scale tool. I used: Tools>Axes to change the axes of the house back to the default configuration. This change made my section plane and section cut work normally again.

Thanks Didier, I actually do have that plugin (it is a great time saver!) and it was the first thing I tried after the fog disappeared. What I did not realize though is while my view appeared to be the same my cameras were way different in distance to there respective targets, so the fog planes were copied but they were not showing up because the fog planes are based on my "off" camera location. Thanks!

Ctrl+drag does indeed work for moving tools from the native toolbars to your custom toolbars. If it isn't working for you, check your keyboard. You do have to have the toolbars window open while customizing the toolbars. You can also just drag the tools over without holding Ctrl. If you want to restore the tools on the native toolbars, click on Reset.

If for some reason ctrl isn't making copies for you, could be a keyboard problem, drag them and build your custom toolbar. Then go to the toolbar dialog and use Reset on any toolbars missing tools and they will be replaced. Don't use Reset All as it will wipe your custom toolbar.

@ntxdave said: Depending on what you want to do, you could look at TIG's 2D Tools plugin but there are some restrictions on how you use it. sure it depends on what I need to do... It was a 2D drawing for clarity. Well, I know that SU isn't primarily focused on that. It's about understanding and acceptance of philosophy. thanks for all the responses guys greetings Peter
