Make it a component and save it to a component collection, then select and place it from the component panel whenever you need it.

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

I think it's just about usability - as far as I know, the game environment treats everything as tris. SU doesn't export models in a nice, quadrilateralised form, since it was never made with quad-based modelling in mind. A face with some rounded corners, some holes cut, and maybe some arching edges may seem simple in SU, but actually translates to a lot of tris that export in whatever arbitrary way SU decides, making it difficult to edit in Maya, Max, Blender, etc. Quadrilateralising the mesh helps, as it arranges the tris nicely, but even so, they are still tris. The main reasons I like quads: -Easily editable. Dragging vertices around on a quad mesh creates predictable results. ngons act strangely in this situation. -Edge loops. Edge loops are a huge part of most modeling applications, and allow for easier selection, division, and readability. tris and ngons do not produce good edge loops. -Deformation. Quads deform predictably and smoothly, making them much more presentable in an animated mesh.

It does work on non rectangular shapes, as you can see in the animation I did elsewhere. However Polygons are a different beast as they are welded edges so it doesn't see the corners. A quick explode of the curve and the sides become different edges allowing the double click to work. [image: Three%20Edges.gif] [image: Poly.gif]

The plugin for 2014 seems to work a lot faster than the built-in one in SU8

It would be nice. It's never been a feature in past versions, though. I used it as an opportunity to get rid of some tools that I never use. Since I almost never use Dimensions or the text tools so I freed up some real estate.

It's been moved to C:\Users\YouUserName\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015\SketchUp\Plugins Your system may have it hidden, so if you can't find it turn on hidden files.

Finished the windows update session and the 'problem' appears to have gone. Weirder than politics.

The SketchUcation toolset's Plugins Manager displays your Plugins' files by name order, and its Extensions Manager lists the Extensions' by name order too... To order menus by the items' names is not practicable. The files adding them load in alphabetical order, by loaded folder, but the menu item's name will never follow the file's name... Back in SketchUp v5/6, when there were far fewer plugins, I set up a tool that did the restructuring of categorized plugins under plugins submenus, by renaming their files and editing their menu-loading code, but this is entirely unworkable given the explosion in the number of plugins available, and their complexity and the disproportionate efforts involved in updating any such setup, etc.

Plus smoothing the furniture rather than hiding the edges would work too. A simple example of the difference between soft and hidden. [image: bptC_SoftHide.JPG]

Thanks a gigaton! I've been pulling my hair in frustration for the past two months about this openstudio problem. Then i installed legacy openstudio plugin but got stuck somewhere else. Frustration at peak.. But now, everything is cool... I'm feeling like Tom Cruise of Jerry Maguire movie screaming "Show me the forums . I love SCF people" Thanks from the bottom of my heart..

Excellent, Thanks Tig, never seen the Klein before. Also the shape I made is not dissimilar to a volute I think.

@jql said: I prefered the previous numbering and, if they missed the point with 2013 wich should have been 9, then I believe this would be Sketchup 10. Imagine: Sketchup X! Sketchup X with the trimble logo in black! Pretty stylish if you'd ask me! Maybe the X could be the move icon... that's an apple thing https://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/ https://www.apple.com/osx/ pretty sure 'X' is out of the name game pool

@oceanembers said: @slbaumgartner said: Pretty vague, sweeping, and in my experience (I use a Mac) unsubstantiated statement! There are some problems that occur only on Windows and some that occur only on Mac, but neither is "slightly problematic". Ok ok you got me -holds hand in air- I used a vague and unsubstantiated statement in the hopes of convincing this kind man to avoid paying for overpriced hardware in a pretty box with a clunky OS Seriously, not gonna go any further into this because I have a definite bias here, but I really don't think a Mac is worth the price you pay. I'm also not interested in a religious war. I use both PC and Mac. But I object to innuendo offered without any facts, just based on rumor and bias. I would react the same way to a Mac bigot.

Please also note that it's not just SU Pro which is 64-bit... Even SU Make is 64-bit... I suggest that discussion continues in the SketchUp 2015 is 64bit thread...

maybe you need to weld vertices? I think I recall a function in 3dsmax that merges all overlapping vertices.

Glad you got it to work. From what you describe, there wasn't any point in making components from the groups so those were unneeded steps.
