Yes. And it's not new to SketchUp 2017. That's been a feature for years and years. You have the secondary pane displayed. You can hide the second one by clicking on the up arrow in the upper right corner of the window. [image: xEyn_Screenshot-11_3_20178_38_48PM.png] You can set one to the In Model collection and the other to another collection. The In Model materials are the ones that can be edited and the tab is displayed only in the primary pane. You can also use the second pane to save new In Model materials. Set the top one to In Model and the other to your desired custom collection. Then drag thumbnails from the top to the bottom.

For the avoidance of doubt... You should not be running SketchUp itself as the administrator - although as an ordinary user you can have administrator powers. The SketchUp exe file properties should also NOT be reset to 'always run as administrator', as this elevates SketchUp's process above that of Windows Explorer, creating unexpected issues. You MUST install SketchUp properly. Doing it in other ways leads to unexpected and unpredictable issues - the errors you see are indicative of an incorrect installation. Please follow these steps carefully. Close SketchUp. Find the SketchUp installer's exe file - probably in your Downloads folder ? Select its icon. Right-click > Context-menu > "Run as administrator" When prompted choose "Repair" When you restart SketchUp it should be installed correctly and avoid these errors. However, if it does not try this... Close SketchUp. Find the folder: C:/Users/Marianne/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/SketchUp 2017/SketchUp/Plugins/ The users AppData path is hidden, but is accessible. Go up one level and select the Plugins folder's icon. Right-click > Context-menu > Properties > Security [tab] > Edit [button] Ensure all of the groups/users listed have the "Full control" [topmost permission] checked. Apply/Save the changes, and the settings should ripple down to all files and subfolders etc. Restart SketchUp - any better ?

Open the group that the "hole" is in and pick the edges of the hole, then from sandbox tools select from contours. It should generate the "triangles" as needed to fill in the hole.

Yes. Download RBZ archives for each extension - from the PluginStore here at SCF, or if not available here look in the EWH... In v2017 you use the menu item: Window > Extension Manager Click the red button to automatically install the RBZ's contents for you... There are a few 'Pro-only' extensions, but these are clearly indicated in their info details... Also note that some extensions require a helper 'Lib' RBZ installing - again it's clearly stated in the details...

Eric is surely right. Perhaps you can upload the SKP file so we can see what you've got exactly.

I don't know about a plugin but i think you can just double click the face inside to select related geometry and Ctrl+Move upwards to make a copy, then make it group and move downwards. Then you can hide/unhide the group as you wish. (Also you can delete the geometry (edges created) on terrain mesh)

Thanks for the comments. When I selected the "end" of the 1400mm rod and moved it to the new location it worked. Not sure why all of a sudden it worked but I will take it.

@sk_man_2020 said: ...... All you need to do is to use the "change axis" option on each level in the hierarchy, to make sure that they all have the same axes pointing in the same directions. I'm not sure about whether axes positions an directions are involved. Can you share an example? But dimensions inside scaled groups and components do change their location when closing the scaled group/component. As if the dimension isn't fully taking part of the scaling operation.

Cotty is correct. We need to see your SKP file to give you better information. In general, the best thing would have been to plan ahead and make groups as you go instead of trying to separate out the parts now. One option that could work, though it's a bit clunky is to copy the group with Edit>Copy. Then edit the group and erase the bits you don't wan. After you've cut it down to a single part, use Edit>Paste in place and repeat the process for another part. Continue with Paste in place and edit until you have each part in its own group.

You have downloaded an RBZ file - a type of ZIP file - containing the files and folders needed by the plugin [aka an 'extension']. It needs to be 'installed'. SketchUp menu: Window > Extension Manager > Install Extension... [red button] Find the RBZ and install it. Most installed extensions are then immediately available in their [sub]menu items or toolbars - read the usage details for each one. BUT, in the case of most of Fredo's tools [and many of thomthom's and a few other authors] you must also install a set of helper files - in this case: https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=LibFredo6 After installing the Lib, you are probably best advised to restart SketchUp to ensure everything is synced. You only need to install the Lib once. Unless of course a new version is available, and a particular extensions says it's installation is necessary.

It's because the bending skewed that particular surface, so to retain it a diagonal was added. The two triangular facets are no longer coplanar, so you can't simply delete that shared edge. You can use Erase + Ctrl to smooth it. If you use View > Hidden Geometry > ON you'll see various added smoothed edges in the bent form. Somehow that one slipped through. So just 'smooth' it, and carry on...
