RJAML and all: thank you soooo much for your original posts and subsequent replies!!! I have been "fighting" with what I thought was a loosing battle: this "Z-Fighting" without co-planar elements!!! I was going crazy, specially since it seemed to activate and de-activate at random!! But after reading these last entries, I switched from parallel to perspective view and back again...and PRESTO: it disappeared!!! You SAVED MY SANITY!!!! 🤪
Grammar means everything, I think he means this....
"I use SU 2017, as a subscription doesn't make sense as I don't use the program regularly".
The comma makes sense of it.
Thx for your help. I managed to get it right once after several attempts. It seems that finding the center of the bottom face is not easy for me.
If there are many ways to do it, is there an easier way?
I know that modeling should be done so that I wouldnt have to move the groups. This is a simplication of the model. At least for me it is not possible to create my model in one entity.
The image in the op is not showing the gap between the two groups
I know it's only a name change.
It looks as though this plug-in does isolate tags. https://sketchucation.com/plugin/2030-s4u_layer Though 2025 is not supported. Perhaps my verbiage has made it unclear. A better way of expressing it might be "isolate".
The only legit license for SketchUp is a subscription and has been for a few years. To activate SketchUp you would enter the email address and password you used when you purchased the subscription. You should be able to do that for two activations. That could be on two different machines or two different versions of SketchUp on the same machine.
Presuming you've installed SketchUp 2025 on your PC, what happens when you start it and enter your email address and password?
There isn't a free version of SketchUp for desktop and hasn't been since 2018. There's a 7-day trial but you shouldn't need to use that. Just enter your subscription credentials.
@tuna1957 Thank you. I thank you for the reference to the FredoScale tool and its ability to twist. It helped me begin to visualize some things like you have been doing. I just need to practice/experiment more.
@Alan-Fraser Thanks Alan this was a great link to Youtube tutorial + really helped me increase the materials. . I did not know that you could do this . I'd tried many years ago with bmp + JPG
@Dave-R Interesting because I used it last year (2024) without any problems.
I can get the idea of payment but for me, using sketchup as a hobby, so no income out of model making, it is expensive.

"Saves the camera position in just 2 clicks so it can be retrieved later. Works between models. Perfect for version comparison for instance."
"Put To Memory"/"Retrieve From Memory"
@TIG said in Component Axis:
If you set the component's axes to match its face then it's no longer rotated at 45° when it's saved out of the model.
Just leave its axes as the default [45° off the face], and then it'll import into another model rotated as you hope, because then the component's geometry is not exported as axial.
Thanks very much for explaining my error.
@Dave-R said in Cut through roof:
Explode the vertical face, use Edit>Cut to cut it to the clipboard, open the roof group for editing, hit Edit>Paste in place. Then select all, use Intersect Faces>With Selection and erase the unwanted stuff.
Thank you !
