why does it take posting this to solve my year old problem?! In Steermouse, you can actually give an action to holding the scrollwheel button and scrolling. And, wait for it, mine was set to page up and page down. I disabled all actions for this and, what do you know, problem solved. sigh sometimes I amaze even myself...

Here is a quick model screen shot, just so you can see what I am up against. Chris, they are looking for non-shaded technical line drawings. The dimensions came out of SU. So, this workflow works, but is time consuming. Render in Cheetah, save as transparent background png. Open png in Photoshop, delete all but black, crop, and save as png. Import png into SU, scale model to real size, pull dimensions. Export dims and image from SU as transparent background png. Open again in photoshop and final crop and image size. Cheers, Chuck [image: rsO6_test.png]

Hi! I have followed the discussion but I have still problems with the icons and tools using the Bezier curve. Could anyone explain me which are the right steps? I have seen Fredo released a new .rb file called beziermain.rb but also overwriting that in the old folder BezierSpline1.3 I still don't see all the tools. HELP! thanks. Stef.

According to Yahoo, GM did a 2:1 split in March of 1989. If this is accurate, then today's stock price is only twice what it was in 1946. GM Stock Split History lists all the splits since the 1950s

Chuck, I´ve noticed the orbit slowdown you mention. I don´t remember having that issue on my previous windows machine. I´ve noticed though, that if you click with your middle button over an empty area in the model you get the slowdown, but it will work as expected if you try and orbit clicking over any geometry in the model. Similar behavior to zooming over an empty area... Is this what you are experimenting? s

Hi Barry. It is weird that you are experiencing no peculiarities. With the latest and greatest 10.5.3, I was experiencing very bad orbiting on a model with 42,000 faces. If I edited it as a component with 5 or 6 copies, it would lag terribly. If I selected a large portion of the model, I also got very laggy performance. Yes, the orbit tool has always worked with no problems for me, too; I am referring to orbiting by holding down the middle mouse button. I did not double click anything, it is just that the orbiting performance seemed to improve if I set the double click delay to longer. Truth be told, I was having worse performance today, with the latest OS than I was with 5.2. Thanks!

Hi Todd, good to see you here, too. By the way, your scene rename script is an excellent addition to my plugin arsenal; thanks for that! Hi will! My wife and I have been in Whitefish for almost three years now and we really like it here. We actually moved here for the skiing, as Whitefish gets a lot more snow, usually, than Crested Butte, Colorado, where we lived for 9 years. We also love to ski Fernie, and I have been meaning to get up to Castle mountain one of these days (I hear it is really fantastic). We have just suffered through a vicious heat wave and now there are forest fires all around us. Town has been so choked with smoke that you can't even see Big Mountain sometimes. It is really quite miserable. I have been up to Calgary a few times and we always have a great time up there. We have a couple of good friends who live there so it is nice to have a place to stay. We should grab a beer, or two, next time we are in each other's neck of the woods.

Thanks, Paul, for the great advice. I am just about to start populating this quadrant with "stuff"; I have been looking forward to this for weeks. I think trees will make a huge difference, too. My glass is opaque, since all of the buildings are just shells, but I will experiment with a bluer glass and see what it looks like. I am torn with the pavement. Right now, I am just using a solid color because I find that the asphalt textures really flicker badly when animating. I agree that I need to do something to make the roads look more realistic. Thanks again for taking the time to jot down your suggestions.

3.2 ghz 8 core mac pro. Starting out with 10 gig ram (expandable to 32!) and 2 HDD, one 500 and one 1T (expandable to 4 1T). IT is also coming with the Nvida 8800 GT graphics card (and the computer supports 2 graphics cards!) and a 22' and a 19" monitor. I have been waiting 5 weeks for this bad boy to ship and it is scheduled to arrive today! I am toying with the idea of driving around looking for the Fedex truck (small town here) and getting it early. I have benchmarked a bunch of animation exports, both SU and raytraced, so I will have a good idea how much faster the new one is from the Macbook Pro I have been using. I am also looking forward to doing some top flight video editing to further polish my animations. Can anyone say "flicker filter"? I am having a hard time concentrating (for the last week, really )

Hi Chuck, I think I may know what is going on with this issue. I believe your images have an exif (common to digital cameras) format - true? If so, we have finally isolated a bug with exif formatted images. Those images can display correctly on the Mac but fail to display on the PC. Unfortunately, the only workaround that I have found is to save the images with a different format. We are working on this issue though. Does that help? Best regards, Tricia

Chuck - good thread. Taiyo Yuden are generally very good discs, the best media in the world is Mitsui, but they are also more expensive too. Keep in mind as well that your computer displays more screen area of a DVD than a standard TV does - so when/if you create menus, make sure to leave a safe zone of about 8% (yes I just pulled that number out of my butt!) so that your text and graphics show on every screen. H.264/Mov files are not the way that you would ultimately like to go, when you create a DVD, you are outputting MPEG-2 - so better to keep it in that format if possible. Do NOT push your bitrate over 8MB/s, or it will not play on all machines - better to have it around 6 or 7 so that you don't get choppy playback on some machines. High Def. HD-DVD is not really a great idea - it is dying off, Blu-Ray is the way to go if that is really what you want to do. Best not to invest time and money into a dying format. In short HD-DVD has less capacity than Blu-Ray, the main issue though is with the data transfer rate. HD-DVD can only put out about 30MB/s of video (36MB/s total on disc) and Blu-Ray can put out 40MB/s (56MB/s total on disc) - also Blu-Ray isn't restricted on audio, and can go completely lossless - whereas HD-DVD is not as good a format for audio. Just a bit more info.
