I dont think anything noticeable was done to the style builder, so the version youve got at the moment is probably the latest one.

I arrived a little late to this thread: I notice the discussion has meandered, which is normal, in forums. For those reading this thread, I have already donated 2 Ruby scripts to this forum which I wrote: I didn't claim copyright nor did I obfuscate the code so others could not read it, and anyone is free to use the code and alter it. Window Tools: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=14394&p=109705&hilit=window+tools#p108868 Door Tool: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=14008&p=105538&hilit=doortools#p105538 My investigation into Ruby coding lead me to believe that it was impossible to cut an opening into a wall, because a SketchUp wall is not actually a wall, its only to planes separated by a given distance, with 4 more planes defining the thickness, unlike a real 3d object which would require a Boolean operation to cut holes into it, or Nurb objects. However my 2 ruby scripts will cut openings into walls as long as the user enters the wall thickness into the dialog box prior to cutting the holes. SketchUp is a surface modeling program NOT a solid modeling program like ArchiCad, Maya, XIS, Max, C4D, or Rhino. Its also one of the main problems facing developers trying to produce workable export plugins from SketchUp to other 3d platforms. I found schedules the 3rd item on the list, to which not much attention has been paid. When I was creating AutoCad window and Door schedules many years ago, I could get them to print out via an Excel spreadsheet. So they could be incorporated in 8.5x 11 format into the back of a specification manual(s) I had to create a Dialog box consisting of some 15 attribute tags that needed to by filled out before a door could be inserted onto a AutoCad drawing file. So whats wrong with that! Nothing except AutoCad would change its menu structure each year. And with each newer version, it became impossible to keep up making changes to the menu structure, and to incorporate those Attribute and Lisp coded functions. And it got even harder, for the Firm, after I left. I heard later that they were making schedules the old fashioned way, which was much faster in the long run. I've been there just like Atl-Arch describing his attempt to build a stone cap parapet. I recall Working with a $3000.00 program from AutoDesk called Architectural Desktop, which was supposed to be used to draw repetitive floor plans, except they forgot to include an actual floor in the program that you could insert and which had actual thickness. I hope Revit users wont go through the same dilemma, now that AutoDesk bought them. Regardless, I'm looking forward to the schedule, good luck, Al

hi frederik the 2cm grid might not be in proper scale but the rest of the model is... the ball inside is roughly 4cm in diameter and the outer ball is 6 .. as far as i can remember... Try fitting a squaremeter tiles on it an you pretty much get stuck. It's up to the user how he scales the texture on it -in realscale you won't see much of a floor. On the other hand this would suit more detailed textures...

OP: Grouping vs layers - I need to go watch those basecamp videos again. There was one guy who worked one way and another guy promoting the other way. *Absoultly, use the way that best fits your needs and modeling style. Just a suggestion OP: Since you offered, I'd certainly be interested to see any changes you or anybody else wants to share. i will have to see about that now due to time restraints. During the holidays i had time on my hands, but now things are starting to get rolling again OP: and was sort of amused and bewlidered waching what the "orient faces" did and didn't do to the various faces - wondering why some faces are associated with the command and others aren't. SU has to guess as to which faces should go out and which faces should go in. For a human that logic is simple to evaluate, but to put that into an algorithm and have perfect results every time is quite challenging. The only info available to the program is the faces normal(vector3d) and the surrounding objects. I suppose it could be made perfect, but the compute time might take hours OP: I should probaby just pull the walls out to represent the added thickness of the siding. I'm just trying to get the dimensions correct so no officials are surprised. Actually, the sheathing should be overhanging the foundation ... <mumbling noises>. i would create the thickness using the [PP] tool and just "paint" it with a texture. That way those "sadistic" officials will get what they need. . Then you can pull it over the foundation quite easily. In this case you really DO need to apply the window afterward. Good Luck, come back any time

Don't know if it is an option, but i have seen some tutorial-skp's, where there was a model in scene 1, and scene 2 was looking at a (changed) cópy of that same model which was located a bit to the right so you did not see that one when you were looking at scene 1. If you change to scene 2, scene one is leaving your screen and you see the changed model. (but ofcourse you won't see the doors getting opened in 1 model, you will just see model 1 dissappearing and model 2 appearing and this is probably not what you were looking for?)

@kwistenbiebel said: Colours of the trees are odd though. That is why I asked you earlier on to have the option to produce 3D trees rather than billboards, so we can alter the textures of bark and leaves ourselves. I love the plugin you made, but I can't use it currently in my renders as there is not a lot of control on the textures. Having 3D trees with seperate textures would allow that... You can change the colours of the bark and leaves before you create the tree. They are alpha-png images stored in the application. You can load them, change them, and save them with a new name (or save other images) and make the trees with the new images. See: http://wiki.renderplus.com/?title=Rptreemaker#Can_you_change_color.3F_If_so.2C_how.3F_This_would_be_very_important.Changing color [image: Yellow-leaf.jpg] You can also change the brightness of the trees with the Brightness tab before you save the image. You can also, vary the illumination of the tree by rotating the HDRi sky which illuminates it on the Advanced tab. All that said, we do intend to produce a 3D version. But we haven't gotten around to it yet.

by the way, is there some shortcut way to jump between scenes? like pressing 'Ctrl + 1' for Scene1, 'Ctrl + 2' for Scene2...? of course it is not much of an effort pressing the tabs with your mouse - but it is a lot cooler to hit some keys instead (after all, in movies hackers always use their keyboard and not the mouse)

@perk said: What I find odd is that what I was draping was a closed plane, why is it that after draping it became open? Why? I can't tell. As I noticed, it was a minor missmatch in the z-value. One endpoint was +0.000000 the other was -0.000000 Try if a P/P of the parking area right through the terrain, followed by intersection of selected will also cause the same problem. Most likely they are the same lines, there were only two forming an odd couple, not being collinear. Hover (with the 'Query' tool cursor) over endpoint to locate the ones matching the values that I gave you. It will only take a minute to find the lines at these endpoints. Finding the culprit should not take more than 5 to 10 minutes. In View => Hidden Geometry start dividing the area into two. Half of it will show no problems. Continue to do so in the faulty area and you will find mistakes in no time. (in case of a coplanar situation let the weld ruby do part of the work. Here it is of no use) Glad to see you found and repaired the parkinglot-problem. Wo3Dan

I also agree for a code rewritten/optimization for sketchup first but honestly i don't really think that will happen any time soon because SU7 have just been released. So if any new tool will be released before a SU optimization, it should at least come inside the program and not by a ruby extension. Take the example of the new scale tool plugin from Fredo6. It's a great plugin that completly turns the sketchup scale tool absolete (for the ones that don't use DCs) but because it's a ruby it's much slower on larger geometries than the basic scale tool that it's part of the program and operates much faster. So as i said in SU8 whishlist thread before we get anything new we need optimization first.
