@unknownuser said: here the French Tut of Vectorisation's tool inside Inkscape Else link for Inkscape Load an Image then SHIFT + ALT + B (On my old version) you are right. Thats it! Now I have Lines they look much better. But it are still 2 parallel Lines. Why? Because a raster/pixel- Line has a thickness about some pixels. So Inkscape make 2 outline. But I need a middleline. May I feel it will come and work fine. See my pictures please [image: u1iu_vectorize.jpg]

If it is a wood frame, no way in solid works, wood is anisotropic... But you could evaluate any metalic part easily.

@dave r said: Just a question. Why do you have to explode it to modify it? Why not just open it for editing? ... I should have asked that to begin with...

If you know the manufacturers name then you might try looking on http://www.traceparts.com/users/TracePartsOnline/index.asp for 3D models. Regards, Bob

You've got some nice work, Don. If it helps, you can see how I did the front of that chest here. I need to write up the directions for the rest of it, yet.

Hi Thomas, One solution I used to make a material map (same issue - I needed to cover a wall with ivy but didn't want all the additional polys for vray.) First, I took a leaf component from an ivy model I had (17,000 faces with just one component!) - then used component spray on a rectangle in an empty model. I added and deleted leaves until it looked how I wanted to to look in my full model. I set up a view straight on, and with the right sun angle, did a vray render. As a result, I have a png (with transparency) that I can use as a material map in vray (I also made a bumpmap layer with a b/w version of the image.) Like Csaba suggests, I place it at a distance from the backdrop so it casts shadows. Here is an example in a rendering. [image: penthouse_img31crop.jpg] -Andy

In this link I found people worried for the same. http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/sketchup/thread?tid=589b0d27a1c59111&hl=en I've attached a simple plugin to rotate to green +Y default and set solar north to 0. (I need it for my skelion plugin) After rotate the model, you can restore the model if you want export to Google Earth. The plugin only works in SU8 Plugin

@ODM: Thank you for your reply. Yes, it is understood that with the right hardware there should be minimal problems with the program. But inherent in the program(s) are limitations that cause display problems such as clipping, which can happen when geometry is created sufficiently far from 0,0,0 or when geometry is created sufficiently small enough, or when there is a significant amount of geometry. Knowing all of this from many discussions in this forum by others has not answered what the thresholds really are. Maybe I need to read some more in OpenGL pages. Perhaps the information is there and I have overlooked it.

Can you tell us the spec of your PC/Mac? It could be related to the graphics card. Under Windows>Preferences>OpenGL which boxes are checked?
