I have a problem loading my stuff to warehouse. I had a really nice Mom & Pop store with an apartment over top. Completely furnished upstairs and down. But it was 25 MB. Now I know it has to be under 10MB. So I reluctantly took out all the funishings and store equipment. Nothing but floors and walls. the it was 14MB. So I took out the windows upstairs and the upstairs doors. Still over. So what am I doing wrong? Should I scare it down it an inch = foot? I am lost. Any help greatly appreciated.

      Hi Moses,

First of all, when you delete stuff (like components or any geometry with certain materials) from model space, they still remain in the file so you need to purge it. You may have done so as it indeed went down somewhat but this file size is still big.

One important suggestion; no need to play around with scaling as it has zero effect on file size.

      Instead, make sure that

      • you indeed purged everything not used and unnecessary in the file
(Go to Window > Model info > Statistics and at the bottom, "Purge...")
      • Do not use extremely large (file size) image textures. SU will not display bigger than 1024 pixels anyway (2048 enabling large texture size).
      • Use components wherever you have at least two sets of the same geometry (like windows, doors, chairs etc.)
      • Be extra careful with stuff (components) downloaded from the Warehouse. Many models uploaded there are extremely (and uselessly!) complex and can boost your file size in no minutes.
Have a look at this plugin to check if you have unnecessarily large textures in your model. Then this plugin to check if you have something unnecessarily complex (like a high polygon glass in the corner) in your model.

OK, Thanks again for your help. My model is up. If you go to warehouse and search for King's, I am sure you will find it. Would love to know what you think of it.

            Hi Moses,

For a search term "King", the warehouse will return some 800 hits! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
Better to copy/paste the link here!
