Nevermind, Zorro looks like it will work. As usual, an awesome plugin from Whaat. It crashes a lot though but I'll make a backup of my file and see what I can come up with. Thanks a bunch Rich!

I've found that on a Mac there can be multiple layers of processing on mouse events. The OS does one layer, the mouse driver does another layer, and the running app does another layer. These all need to align for the middle button and scroll wheel to behave as expected. For example, on my Mac I need to connect the mouse and then manually open the Microsoft Mouse item in System Preferences after a system reboot; it does not initialize unless I follow this sequence (yeah, I know, crappy mouse - but what I had available from a prior Windows box).

The Scale tool can also be used to mirror geometry by pulling the middle grip in the centre of the object towards and then beyond the point about which you are scaling. This operation allows you to pull geometry inside out. You can achieve the mirror by typing in a -1 value in the status bar dimension box on the bottom right of the window, after beginning to pull the grips to scale the object. Here is a link to a YouTube tutorial. Cheers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbbuqskh0wo

Steve, when I opened your SKP file, I got exactly what you see below. I just opened the file and made a screen shot. I agree with Dedmin that your model should be closer to the origin. [image: IoL4_ZoomExtents.jpg] FWIW, you will probably want to fix the reversed faces. They show as blue in your model. [image: 0Qrs_ZoomExtentsfaces.jpg]

Cheers for that So when seeking seamlessly smooth frames per second , SU is bottlenecked at the CPU at a far greater level than at the GPU level. And that ATI has now improved. Btw, I ended up getting a i7-950 and 460m nvidia sli workstation laptop.

I would love such a tool, but alas, as far as I know, there ain't no such tool for SU. The closest I know of is Sketchyphysics. This will allow all sorts of joints and controls, BUT, does not allow you to set the position of parts in the drawing proper. You can only move parts via a run-time module within SU. Stop the run and everything reverts back to its start point. It's a great tool, and can do a lot of wondrous stuff, but the learning curve is quite steep and quite frankly, although I loved it, I gave up on it. So now, if I need to see an articulation I create layers for each position, and rotate copies of the component around the axis point, with each position on its own layer. Making the rotated part a component allows you to edit the part in any of its positions and the change ripples through all the positions. Great for fitting parts in complex geometries.

Already to contradict myself... I was assuming you had already played with the "Combine Textures" option in SketchUp. It does approximately exactly what you want. It has limitations though. It only works on co-planar faces though. So on a small model, it would be possible to rotate all faces, or use Jim Folt'z flatten script to flatten all faces, then combine the material into a single jpeg. That would be veryt tedious and not entirely useful on very large models though. But I suppose it could be exactly what you want if you only need it for small amounts of work. To use it, select to faces that are coplanar, and one must already have an image material on it. Select them both (or more than just 2) and right click, and choose "Combine Textures". That will put them into a single jpg. Then you can right click on one of the faces and choose "Texture > Edit Texture Material" and it will open the jpg into your defaul image editor (You can specify that in your SketchUp preferences to use whatever image editor you have on your computer). So that is an option if you want to go through that process Chris

OK, Its related to drawing with "Spaces" in 3d using the extrusion option for each space ... See attached drawing for example of what I have setup below... Using property sets and property data format options iv created a multi-view block to use as a tag for each "space" block ... which would generate the following information for each space ... Footprint: - [Automatic from Space] Floors: - [Building Height] / [Floor Height] Floor Height: - [Manual Data Entry] Building Height: - [Automatic from Space] GFA: - [Footprint]*[Floors] **All was well until I realised that its not quite perfect system ... What I would love is:** Floors - Manual Entry Floor Height - Manual Entry Building Height - [Floors] * [Floor Height] Footprint - [Automatic from Space] GFA - [Footprint]*[Floors] ..... Does anyone know if this is possible ... Chris GFA TEST.dwg

The intersection isn't complete. Triple click anywhere on the piece, the whole thing should be shaded blue meaning it's all selected. Right click on it and select "intersect with selection". Single click on the oval that is the end of the tube and hit delete. Edit, I was too slow.

Cheers, so it is a known bug of sorts? I thought I was doing something at first by accident but it just kept happening. I will keep an eye out for that and try to avoid minimizing. Maybe its worth taking off autosave as I am used to saving often anyway thanks to using in house tools.
