And once you get it open, you can go to Window > Model Info > Statistics > Purge Unused. That should drop your file size by quite a bit especially with a large file.

Whenever I run into a problem, I "save as". That way the original file is preserved up to the last "save".

Hi Rich, Depending on the complexity of the model (i.e. on how many faces you need to do this), it can be easier or even worse... After projecting the photo, exit the PM tool and go to the faces. Right click each face and make the texture unique on each. This should crop the image at the boundary of the face on one hand and make it rectangularly mapped on it on the other. A lot of renderers have issues with matched photos and this procedure generally helps.

My preference is a single 30" display with 2560x1600 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio for clear images and exceptional multitasking. [image: monitor-dell-u3011-overview3.jpg]

@karinagm said: cublique, as far as I know, kerky doesn't make displacements. If you need a subtle illusion of textured surface, you can use a normal or a bump map. Exactly. And "modelling" displacement in SU (like under your link)99 would tax your system dramatically - as you have also noticed yourself.

Hey guys! Just stopping by and sharing how the third circle came to be: [image: rosewindowscreenshot1.png] You can probably trace what I did here... I was following Jean Lemire's guide (thank you very much for that, by the way!) and found a pretty simple method. I drew the tangent of the first circle you suggested I use and then drew a line from the radius of the second circle off to the right along the red axis. I found the radius of the third circle was exactly one-half the radius of the second, so I made a line of that distance and aligned it to the green axis at the point where the tangent and the radius-line-thingy met. The other end of that line was the center of the circle, and from there I drew the shape. That may be unclear, and if so, I apologize... I didn't bother to label the lines or anything. The only thing that bothers me is that the first and third circles don't exactly meet up, but it's understandable considering they're all using under 40 sides. It's not very noticeable from afar anyway.

I wish I had one. I've been looking at CNC routers for cutting large sheets of plywood but they are quite expensive and if I put one of those in my shop, I wouldn't have room to build another boat.

@jgb said: So that means the .SKB file is the file from the PREVIOUS manual save. Correct. @jgb said: Then howcum my SU directory does not contain an .SKB file for each of the .SKP files?? Maybe you unticked "Create Backup" from Preferences > General ?

I was advised to update my GPU drivers as SU made some driver changes in V7. SU8 needs Open GL 1.5. The highest available for my old ATI-9200 card is OGL 1.3. So I need a new GPU; which means an upgrade to my old power supply as the new cards are power hogs. But my old case may not be able to mount the new form factor P/S, so I may need a new case, which may not mount my old Gigabyte M/B. And so it goes............

It is not a SU setting (and definitely not a setting at model level - which means that cannot be set with the template) but indeed a printer setting so you are stuck where you are now and what you already know.
