OK, all right. So it works then... (And I also keep forgetting which Mac key corresponds to the PC keys). Anyway, the info about positioning / projecting materials onto groups/components above may still (hopefully) be useful next time (or for others).

Well, I used Revo Uninstaller to remove all traces of Trimble Update SU version, and re-installed previous SU version, and.....same problem. I have finally traced the problem to a faulty, intermittent usb connection on my external hard drive. That drive contains all the files I work on regularly (including all my SU files) and I connect it to either my desktop or laptop. I work from that drive on whichever computer it's connected to, and save anything I've changed to it, backing it up whenever it's connected to my desktop. The day before the skb problem started I had just installed the drive in a new external enclosure, and the usb connector did not fit correctly to my motherboard connection. Whenever it would briefly disconnect is when the problems would arise. Anyhow, I have fixed that problem and everything is working fine now. Even tho the Trimble update was not the bad guy, I'm not going to update any of my computers. I've had a long-standing policy of not updating anything right after the update becomes available, instead waiting until I feel any bugs have been discovered and fixed. This has kept me out of trouble a number of times. I'll wait until a significant update comes out (after I feel it's safe) Thanks again to everybody.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I was wrong. I just thought I saw somewhere where you could toggle through the different planes/axis by repeatedly hitting a certain key. Thanks for all the help, yeto

Prokrastinator, your solution is the best one I've seen so far on anywhere on the net. Can you explain how your solution works? All of the rotations are linked to a counter so they keep moving until the counter reaches a certain point?

Thanks for the responses. I think I will draw in the lines. I didn't mention that the reason I didn't want to do the intersect command is because the potential of adding a lot of geometry, like ''beginner' mentioned. I was hoping there was something in the styles command that I didn't know. Cheers, have a great weekend.

Yes, that is that what I tried few times. I succeed to create one guide line, but only one, not much success. I must train.

When either of the faces is painted with the default material, it is "special" as you cannot edit that material. (At least I hope I understand what you mean).

I posted this on the LO wishlist thread also. As of today there are zero comments there. Most people assume as I did (and I think you guys did too) that an aligned view was ortho. It turns out it is not! This is something that limits workflow. The work arounds are only good for small models and begs the question for a 2d program, "Why would we have to do that in the first place?" Can you guys make some comments on the LO thread so we can get the attention of the SU Team and they can address this? Right now, assumption is getting in the way of improvement.

Yeah, but the original image is in grayscale and does not http://i50.tinypic.com/347k6r7.png extra quality http://i46.tinypic.com/zyf29c.png Its very blurred and low detail. This is photo from GE, and much more better quality: [image: rswu9u.png] (Measuring of shadow's length)
