Yeah, but the original image is in grayscale and does not http://i50.tinypic.com/347k6r7.png extra quality http://i46.tinypic.com/zyf29c.png Its very blurred and low detail. This is photo from GE, and much more better quality: [image: rswu9u.png] (Measuring of shadow's length)

Apparently they can be changed once you change the Color by the axis . They change once with the lines . As far as I know ! Perhaps there are some plugin but I don't know one yet ! Take care !

Preaching to the converted I fell out with Autodicks arrogance a long time ago. To be fair SU/Layout need to put some time in on the 2D side of things, but I think that's down to layout still being on a learning curve. Keeping my fingers crossed for good things in LO4.

OK, while waiting on the moderators to post my last findings I looked around the net a bit and ended back at sketucation. One thing I did not do when I tried the other printer was to go into the print settings and select it as the printer to use. I did that and am quite a bit closer now. I need to do some fine measuring to see where I am at with the print at this point. Before I was off a noticeable amount and as I am using this as a template to drill holes in acrylic and the holes have to be ligned up and they are only about 2.5 mm wide, it was not going to work for me and other projects in the future would worry me as well. I think I am set now. If not I will let you all know. By the way, can anyone tell me when I will not have to wait on the moderators to post my messages? I thought I read that only the post will have to go through them and this is my 3rd and waiting on my second to go live. Thanks, John

ProDrawer: I am only a little bit smarter than a brick I am glad if I was able to help. There is a wealth of how to information available for becoming fluent in Sketchup. First stop? Click the Help button at the top of your Sketchup Window. YouTube, for instance is chock full of tutorials. Aidan Chopra has a website for teaching. I could go on. Best of luck to you.

Project a shadow of your Bezier curve (Find the angle that fit with your wish) then redraw on this shadow on the surface surface / volume with the "free hand" from the Tool on surface [image: file.php?id=41868&t=1] Maybe more simple to extrude your curve to the surface then Intersect Projection by didier Bur

Found out that the section states was caused by the View > Section Cuts had been unchecked. This happened with a couple different files, but not with others. Weird. The layers are a bit more random. Oddly, it seems like just for the scene that was open when the file was saved. Once corrected, the files seem to be ok - that is, once I set the Section Cuts and layers, update the scene, and save the file the file is correct the next time I go into it. It just seems like an odd glitch for an update that is billed mainly as rebranding. The other items mentioned in the release notes don't look like they'd affect file saving.

Thanks for the link and example, Dan! I can see those Ruby actions being incredibly useful. I don't think I described my use case clearly, but I'm hoping to use the orbit tool and input my own orbit commands, rather than do a automatic, single-axis rotation with a console command. But thank you nonetheless!

Regarding a better computer, yes it helps . I had a dual core processor at 2.8 ghz, now a quad at 3.8 with hyperthreading (it helps a lot in multitasking letting sketchup to use the most of one core). A model of 10 mb loads under 5 seconds now, then in about 15 ! I had 2gb of memory now 16 but I haven't seen a consume greater than 6 gb (but not from sketchup which uses around 400mb for a 10 mb file). I haven't changed the video card though but I know it helps a lot cause I saw the difference between the integrated video card and a dedicated video card . Crashes still occur, the overall performance of sketchup seems slightly improved . What I am glad is that when the program is Not responding it gets worked out after some dozen-s of seconds depending on the operations you were doing . With the old pc when the Not responding message appeared it was almost clear, I have to close it . Honestly I thought with this performance it should run like rocket and never stop ,but it seems to be a not well grown up adult! I believe that without the plugins won't crash at all! I hope it helps a bit, although this is just my second PC(ever); so there might be others who have made many upgrades including video cards and the new SSD storage disks(which I heard are way better than regular HDD's) therefor helping sketchup work and load faster . Take care !
