Hey One component already on the orgin plane this make it easy to do, if you have scaleGroupFloat_dj.rb loaded. target save and move meathod: step 1: Make one component unique. (right click to context list) step 2: 1-time left click of the component you want to change. Save target, via scaleGroupFloat_dj (press ok). step 3: 2-times left click set axes to component and 3-times more edit select the object of the component . Using the Move to target, via scaleGroupFloat_dj.(press ok), will auto aline component to orgin plain. Now select ouside of component now your done. All above steps is shown here [image: ekaF_Movie_0007.gif] If both were non aline to orgin plain then do other with step two and three too. Advance woking of this; just add the axes tool into the mix. then turning object is just a breeze, for those tools that needs to be aline to x-y plain for z axis drops . examples usesages to [Plugin] Color by Z drop sandbox.rb smartdrop.rb TIG-drapematerials.rb TIG-Drop Material onto Instances tt_component_dropper

I think I have seen some DC trees that change leaves for different seasons, but I don't recall ever seeing a DC tree that grows. Nice idea, though.

You can also try sandbox drape, but only if your pattern does not wrap all around. You'd lay the glass on it's side. 2d pattern, drape then use joing push pull to recess. In most cases (whatever methods) you probably want to first scale the glass 100 times too large and scale down after the application of the pattern.

I don't necessarily agree with the tone, but I agree with all the sentiments. The issues you're having can be exacerbated by a slow or old computer but the issues you're bringing up are inherent to SU no matter what PC you have to a great or lesser degree. File save times can be slow and to make matters worse file sizes are often larger than they "should" be which compounds the issue. By comparison, 3ds Max can save large amounts of geometry pretty quickly with small file sizes (there's even a "compress on save" option that can reduce file sizes by 75%). There are, of course, ways to quickly bloat your file, but even if you utilize good SU file management, the issue is still far from ideal. I won't go into detail reiterating all of your other points but suffice it to say I fully agree that at this stage better UV mapping, unbroken material management (The inability to save/delete a material in a moderately sized scene, I think, constitutes as broken), etc. -Brodie

@daredevil said: There is no problem to enter the value in a text box in the Component option windows AND let the user manualy scale it. If you have a problem to do that, send us the file to understand the problem. Is it that simple? It is more complicated when you want to put constraints on the value such as snapping to whole numbers, or making minimum length.

@bartgragg said: So you are THAT Dave! Awesome! You say that like it's a good thing. @bartgragg said: Thanks for the link. It made all the difference. It made me re-think my organization and use of materials and so I have begun to create a "plywood" collection of 48 x 96 sheets and now I have no issues with weird lines. As a bonus it finally sunk in the difference between applying materials and paint. Thank you for the time and patience. I'm glad it helped.
