Your screenshot of the orginal tells me that the component axes is set at the bottom left corner, which is the default position. If you move the camera around and that corner stays attached to the origin then my guess is correct. As I demonstrated above you need to move the axes to the bottom ceter of your horse so that it spins on its midpoint.

The native Model Info > Statistics > Purge Unused... removes ALL unused 'things'. My Plugin http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=PurgeAll allows you to purge all OR selected 'things'...

Fredoscale stretching is good for more complex windows. It makes components unique, including nested components which are stretched. Sometimes this doesn't fit with your component strategy. You have to decide when and how to use this powerful tool. Windows and doors are definitely the most use I get from this tool. You've made one and you really don't want to rebuild for all the different sizes you need. The most work is going in and renaming the various components properly so you can use them by name in the future. I've never been able to be truly diligent in this regard. I have seen the tool do some strange things with multiple nested component but usually it handles anything you throw at it.

You cannot rely on the order of elements in a Selection. If you freeze it using es=selection.to_a then the order is frozen - but not much use. You can extract objects from a selection using grep, e.g. ... gs=selection.grep(Sketchup::Group) Gives you an array of all groups in the selection. You can make an array of their names [sorted] and then find their matching id - into an hash - which might then be in an order you want... But you haven't really explained why the selected-items' order is so important for you...

@ggunn said: "I would trying clearing the IE caches/temporary internet files next." My apologies; that seems to have worked. I had cleared the history but I had not gone into internet options and dumped everything. Once I did that, geolocation started working again. Thanks! Good. Glad that took care of it. And as you've discovered, there's a difference between clearing the history and clearing the caches. @ggunn said: ...and I don't have IE at all on my Mac. No, on Mac SketchUp uses Safari. You didn't bring up Mac before and your profile indicates Windows so I didn't think it was necessary to mention Safari.

@joeanderson said: Thanks a lot for your advice and the link! However, is it possible to realise with the standard tools? Hi Joe, I was once resistant to using plugin and exclaimed "why can I not do this simple thing straight out of the box". Once I spent a few minutes working out how to install plugins i did not look back. With the Plugin Store and extension warehouse this could not be easier. I would recommend to give it a go and before you know it you will have more tools than you can shake a stick at.

the techy answer to this has got to do with server load. every person browsing the forums opens a session on the server. If we let every session launched to remain open then the server would buckle under the sheer volume. so to keep the experience for everyone zippy and nice we kick out people not actively using the system after a set duration. the next evolution of the site is factoring all these things in. we learn as we go...

Hi folks. If you have SU Pro, you can export from SU as dwg then import the dwg into a new empty model while specifying "Merge coplanar faces" when importing. This shall eliminate all this triangulation. Just ideas.

If you have v8 you need to be sure you have permission to modify the Plugins folder - without that changes made with the Plugins Manager will NOT be retained on a restart of SketchUp - see this... http://sketchucation.com/resources/tutorials/intermediate/811-setting-security-permissions-in-sketchup Also see this on generally installing Plugins... http://sketchucation.com/resources/tutorials/beginner/108-installing-sketchup-plugins and this on the PluginStore tools... http://sketchucation.com/resources/plugin-store-download which has sections on the Plugins Manager - you are NOT Uninstalling them - you are Disabling them.

Try drawing edges over the terrain that will relate to the centerline of the road (with the terrain in a separate group so it won't interact. Use the center line as a guide to use follow me on a profile of your street and sidewalk. The number of edges you use in the center line and whether or not you adjust it to finesse the road grade and curves determines the quality of the road to some extent. You may want to use follow me and keep or upright extruder plugins. Use Sandbox drape to adjust the terrain to the road since google terrain does not conform to any road, real or imagined. Drape gives vertical or uniform slope cuts---you can increase the offset to get more gradual cuts but the offset is the same all sides, unlike real roads. You may wish to sculpt the terrain afterwards---or include ample apron in the road profile to fit to the terrain better. This is one way using basic tools. A little rough but you wanted "simple". Keep searching this site there's more evolved methods discussed in the forum. You can see in the example that I did not use many edges and there will be abrupt surprises for the drivers on this road. You can use plugins like Bezier Spline and Curvizard to manipulate your center line. [image: jCsz_ScreenShot2015-08-15at6.14.47PM.png]

Well, I always thought using duplicated components would create fewer edges/faces than the same number of groups, but alas they are identical and directly proportional to the number of each. I don't doubt that using components (as I do for about half my drawings) has speed/file size advantages, but this probably means that only reducing the number of edges/faces will help the triple-click issue. I know I could reduce detail, and undoubtedly simplify a lot of components/groups, especially those made when I first started this project, but it would take a massive amount of work. In the end splitting the file is a work around, but one I will have to use. BTW the Mac version of SU 2015 is 64 bit only, and checking memory usage SU has elected to give itself 2 GB of Ram and there is no virtual memory in use, and lots more memory available if it wants it. cheers ralph

@leeban said: ...Could you possibly explain what you mean by "partially paste" is that a different thing from normal paste. I see how my choice of words may have confused you. I just meant "paste the center part of the image of the screenshot", only the part that shows the correct building(s) without perspective, i.e. in and near the center. For all the other buildings not close to the center also do show unwanted perspective over their footprints.

If the model was fine in 14 I can't see the problem apart from something in the code or OS X maybe even the hardware ??
