Why do I need a separate login to download from PluginStore?

Good day!

I am interested in the Fur tool for SketchUp but even if I am logged in the forums as now, I need to login again when opening PluginStore. Next to the plugins appears a 'need to login to get it'. If I try login again, it doesn't accept it! How will I be able to get to the plugins in order to download it? I assume the Fur tool plugin is free, but not sure.

When searching the web, I got it from these links:

This is not such a big thing, but I also have often asked myself the question, why do I need to login separately into the Plugin Store, although I am already logged in with the same data in the Forum.

@ Laura: Yes, thankfully the plugin "Make Fur" by Tak2hata is free and I recommend the plugin
"Stretch By Area" from the same author which is free as well...

Sounds like you don't have the right Login information. It always works for me. This is the way it is set up.

If you ever do manage it OK, download and install the Sketchucation store plugin. Then you may load plugins directly from inside Sketchup without login.

Also for the make fur plugin, if you click "more info", there's a download button in the first post. I think this is still true about many plugins, but I don't know the update status. I suspect the plugin store has the most up-to-date versions.

The main SCF Forum and the PluginStore are currently 'hosted separately', so you might be asked to login to both initially, but thereafter it should be somewhat synced, unless you stop using one side for a long time...

the techy answer to this has got to do with server load.

every person browsing the forums opens a session on the server. If we let every session launched to remain open then the server would buckle under the sheer volume.

so to keep the experience for everyone zippy and nice we kick out people not actively using the system after a set duration.

the next evolution of the site is factoring all these things in.

we learn as we go...
