Unfortunately .ai file is not a support export format. Also .pdf export is only available on MAC... So it you are on a PC, then I suggest you use Slicer5 to export as .png files, then batch post-process those files in a 3rd party app to make .pdf files [several free online converters are available...]...

Is Renderiza's rescene useful for you - http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=re_scene It's a but clunky and you might need to teach yourself on a copy of the file but it's pretty useful

Hi pcmoor, Many thanks for the reply and example files. Yes, that is a nice trick that works: changing any parameter in the component option window and clicking apply will update the calculation without redraw. Cheers! A.

You might want to address that question directly to the author.

Copy+Paste+Enter this one-liner into the Ruby Console - it will open your Plugins folder: UI.openURL("file:///#{Sketchup.find_support_file('Plugins')}") Restart SketchUp to load any newly added files...

Hi Rev, superglue and hot glue are commonly used to attach 3D printed parts together. For some novel ways including friction welding the parts together, you may check out this piece on Makezine. Regarding the long skinny triangles, I wouldn't worry about them unless you are experiencing trouble while printing. While they aren't ideal, I've never personally had trouble printing them. That said, increasing the polycount while exporting is likely the best way to avoid the long triangles, but then you can run into overly heavy models that take longer to process and can also make for a lower quality print.

Hello Emilia93 - Good question indeed. We may be able to find something for you. Yes, there are good general tutorials on Sketchup. Yes, there are accurate sources for existing old and famous buildings, too. But no, do not expect to find them combined in one. Unless you have the architect's drawings or want to go out and measure old buildings directly - after bracing yourself to a very long ladder - the only accurate sources for reproducing old famous buildings are old books with measured drawings. First - familiarize yourself with Sketchup by modelling a few simple objects well. Then - try the bigger challenge of modelling a real building after measured drawings. The fastest way forward in modelling is to sit next to someone who already knows the software well, asking her lots of questions as you model. Seasoned modelers tend to be patient by nature. So please reach out. If you absolutely cannot find anyone, combine simple video tutorials aimed at general modeling skills with trial and error and questions in forums like this. Maybe we could supply you with some titles of architectural reference books with measured drawings of existing old and famous buildings. So, what particular types of buildings are you looking for?
