@box said: Tig again. http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=TIG_DualDims It's a good plugin for batch editing units, but it also edits the text. Linked dims in other units than model units maybe are just not possible, Thank you for the link. It's useful.

Thanks everyone for your responses! I got a response from sketchUp support which is as follows... Note: (I tried option 4 just turned off ruby and back on) it saves as usual now. "*%(#FF4040)[For file save issues it's typically related to the filesystem on the OS. Make sure you're saving locally (no external drive, no network) Make sure you're saving to a local, non-cloud based file structure as well... no Livedrive, Dropbox and Google Drive... Make sure you're using OS compatible filenames, nothing really long, try to remove non alpha-numeric characters from both filenames and folders Confirm if Extensions are in place that could affect file saves, turn off Ruby if necessary A) http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/1700320]* ".... -SketchUp support team

@panixia said: the faster way is to symply pick the "tile 1x" option from tru-paint right click menu. (or, if you prefer, type in your vcb "1*" which actually will lead to the very same result) thanks for pointing this out some "not every day" things one forgets so easily

@ntxdave said: Building them as part of the base product would probably on raise the price.[/list] So, what else would you expect to get with the next updates? More Layout features or bigger icons? And the price has already been raised significantly since Trimble's takeover. Speaking of features i really would like to understand why the development of dynamic components has been abandoned right after the release in SU7 (?) years ago. The interface and functionality is just laughable compared to other solutions and i think there would be many possibilities if this would be improved in the right way.

@driven said: I've been watching this thread and have a dilemma in my understanding of your pursuit... simple flipping and scaling of components helps keep the file size down in a skp... so any diversion from that principle only makes the skp larger and harder to work with... Yes, I am aware of that. @driven said: is this desire for an 'on export' conversion, as that's a completely different thing that is available for some formats already... if it's for export, why not say which format you need this for? john I did not think it was relevant but since you asked, .s format. It was designed by KUJU for the 2001 game sold by Microsoft -- Train Simulator. While that game lingers on some 15 years later there is an Open Source replacement called Open Rails that will read the .s files and display those models and textures in-game. My work is for use in Open Rails and I use only Sketchup for 3dcad. An example: [image: 4wQN_Clipboard0704_small.jpg]

not sure what works for extensions, certainly Sketchuaction pluginstore plugin and Extension Warehouse should do for plugins / extensions, licensing (for PAID content) is going to be your issue though... for models, etc. you can try: http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=rob_cloud

If this is a question about using Vray, you should have posted it there. Do you want me to move it?

For me it takes up more screen space in it pinned state and if it's not locked when the mouse moves away it rolls away till I mouse back over it. The problem for me so far is working with colors and maps and seeing the results, make changes, ect. I have to go back and rollover the area to work with the dialog box or lock it in place and have it take up screen space. For me it's about time, it was quicker before just moving my mouse and seeing what I need to see or make changes and it did not affect my screen space. I could work with it rolled up or not, I could work /render around that space no matter if its rolled up or not. I am old school Autocad DOS and still today I move faster typing/using shortcut and not so much the button menu is newer versions till I get use to the new set up and find what I like to use till the next version. I can jump in to the new version and keep working till I get time or I get use to the new changes. I guess it's my fault, I got on the post because I wanted to work on a project I needed done quickly and I just started working with it in 2016. I should have done it in 2015 where everything was already set up. I guess I need a second screen...a new graphic card to support 2 screen... a newer computer...... Thanks to all of you, I will need to read more of these post and try and understand all the changes and rework my work flow.

@driven said: it sound like you use 'Align Axis' which is a temporary state by design... for a post import ruby fix, you need to clarify what file types you refer to as the vary greatly... john Maybe that would explain why I haven't ever seen the axes move on their own. If I want to change a component's axes location, I use Change Axes which is not temporary.

If you want a 'crib', then why not look at my [somewhat old but still working]: http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=OBJexporter It exports the SKP's geometry, and deals with 'containers', transformations etc... There are several 'exporters' in the PluginStore which may have additional/better clues...

Here's a 2D animation done in Sketchup a number of years ago without any plugins. https://youtu.be/Ri2SYzqa-RM One of the cool things about doing 2D animations in SketchUp is you can use the 3D space so some objects can easily pass in front of others.

@driven said: glad it's working for you... when I first wrote it, my daughter [then 10] said I should charge a penny an icon to repay the time I spend on it... I told her I couldn't because it was a temporary solution and SU would add the ability back in 'any day'... that was v8, I should have heeded her advice... john Absolutely correct. However, I can empathise, since I have long since accepted the fact that I shall not die rich, as I can never seem to charge people for anything that I do, from wedding cakes to digital artwork to assorted types of projects glass to wood and beyond. I do though get great pleasure from just the "doing" and hey! What would I do with all that money anyway - right?
