Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

@peterf said: I am a furniture maker using sketchup for fairly simple models such as modelling kitchens etc and the laptop I use it on is dying! I've been hunting around for ages trying to find an affordable replacement that will meet the required specs, but keep reading conflicting advice. My budget is around £400. I can easily find laptops with 8gb ram and fast processors, but the graphics requirements are leaving me stumped. Everyone says intel hd graphics are useless and some people say the AMD ryzen 5 integrated graphics are better and some say they're worse. Basically it seems like I can't afford a computer with a dedicated graphics card, so for the sort of modelling I do, what would you guys recommend? These are my top 2 options currently... https://www.box.co.uk/81V5001AUK-Lenovo-V155-15API_2808677.html https://www.box.co.uk/7DE73EAABU-HP-255-G7_2580201.html Well, with LENOVO V155-15API, you do get minimum requirements but it is minimum so if your models will be simple with not too many polygons then I guess you will be fine. But again, this is a minimum. https://help.sketchup.com/en/sketchup/system-requirements

When you installed SketchUp 2020 (and reinstalled it) did you right click on the downloaded installer and choose Run as administrator? Assuming you didn't or don't know, find the downloaded installer, right click on it and choose Run as administrator. Then when the options pop up, choose Repair.

And why not take programs who have SKP export format ? Moi3D (useful for transform Nurbs in SKp), Bricscad, PConPlanner etc... PconPlanner or Moi3D can be used as convertor !

@dave r said: Yes. I found that works. I was just advising that one shouldn't just set a very small Near value and expect it to work for all camera positions.

@dave r said: If you set the face style to Monochrome so the image isn't getting in the way and turn on Hidden Geometry, you can see that all the edges bordering the terrain are hidden (dotted lines) and the edges bordering the triangular faces are softened/smoothed (dashed lines). [attachment=0:3nf8v0jf]<!-- ia0 -->Screenshot - 2_21_2020 , 7_59_36 AM.png<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:3nf8v0jf] Ahhh! I see! It makes absolute sense!

You open up a CA file and under IMPORT you find IMPORT 3D SYMBOL and you can see SKP is one of the file formats you can open up directly as a symbol. There are some minor things you can do to the symbol, but it remains just a symbol that cannot be broken apart. [image: aKQ0_SKPimportintoCA.png]

That's not a bad idea, actually. I can place a guide point at my component's X,Y,Z intersection before exploding it. Smustard's Midpoint extension does the trick. Thank you Dave R. (See? Sometimes it pays to drill down.)

What Microsoft browser are you using? What version is it? Since this appears to be coming from Archelios, it would be a good idea to check with them and see what browser version they support. BTW, your profile indicates you are using 2020 Free/Make but there is no such version. Please update your profile.

@l i am said: Hi, when doing landscape design it is best to use this workflow, as shown. Simply draw the whole plan on the image. Then push pull to achive the relitive levels. Then you should not have those issues. @dave r said: There isn't an aanimation export option in SketchUp Shop. At least not currently. Did you see something somewhere that indicates there is animation export? By the way, your profile indicates you are using SketchUp 2015 Make. Could you please update that information? Darn! That explains why I couldn't find it. Btw, there is no option for Sketchup Shop in the License field in the profile dialog box, only Make and Pro. I changed mine to read pro although it's not true.

Box is on it but... What version of SketchUp are you using? Your profile indicates 2014. Is that correct? I don't believe the inscribed/circumscribed option had been introduced yet.

Thanks, Box. That's a good way to do it for my purposes. I'm trying to decide on finishes for the range wall in my kitchen (or to let my wife help!). It is helpful to have reasonably realistic representations of the items on the wall to get a better feel for how things hang together. But super-detailed geometry for a close-up is not needed. OTOH, I was very glad to learn the other ways to model this as well, to improve my general knowledge!
