Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

It's not a good idea to copy extensions/plugins between computers or between different versions on the same computer. Install fresh copies of the extensions to make sure that you get current versions and get them installed correctly. For extensions from Sketchucation that you installed using the Sketchucation tool, you can install your bundle from one computer to the other. Otherwise you need to just search for an install extensions one at a time. You could copy any custom components, materials, and styles though.

In most cases I would say you are right Juju---except for these, I think. Chuck V.'s plugins are some of the best in the industry, and in particular, the door & window tool. Its parametric settings are better than anything I can produce in either Archicad or Vectorworks, and it has alone saved me countless hours to create very complex windows, doors, and door systems. Of course, if I could wave a magic wand, they would be perpetual. Oh, well...... Cheers. [image: iR0G_ScreenShot2020-03-13at2.28.22PM.png]

As Dave R has suggested, using a texture would be the way to go. If you do prefer a vector method then maybe the following might help. Extract or copy the curved face or, at least, copy the curved edge in order to have the new linework sit over the surface correctly. Define the arc centre of the curve. Model a single brick as a component. I used just the face with four sides converging to a single point at the arc centre. Once the model is populated with the brick component the bed & perpendicular joints can be adjusted by scaling the brick face. If you just have an arc edge then add some extra lines so that a face is formed on the ground plane (make it a group). The brick face should lie slightly in front of the wall face or arc line. [image: PG4l_01.jpg] Next, rotate/copy the brick sufficient to give coverage across the wall width with some overlap. Group this first course and then copy it upwards to form the second course. Rotate to give the staggered joints. [image: pFou_02.jpg] Now group the first and second courses together and copy upwards to give vertical coverage to the wall. Place all of the bricks into one further group. [image: ThQH_03.jpg] Push-pull the wall ground plane up to the top edge height needed to form a vertical face if you did not extract this from the model already. [image: ux2H_04.jpg] Select the brick group and the wall group. Run 'Intersect with selected'. When done, hide the bricks and the wall groups. You should now have just the intersected linework to represent the bricks in the curved wall. Select and group this linework and fit into the main model. [image: bWC0_05.jpg] A bit long winded I know but an enjoyable afternoon diversion. I used only native SU tools.

Francois, I stumbled across your posting and oddly enough, I am doing exactly the same thing - now, it's 2020, so it's close to 5 years after you posted this so I wanted to see how you've progressed with this workflow? Any feedback would be great - have you thought of or have already converted over to using the newest version of Layout or you still working between the two apps (SU & VW)? Thanks! J @frv said: I had to do some elevations in a hurry. I had a detailled SU model. Imported it into Layout. Set the scale to 1:100 Exported a pdf from Layout. Imported the pdf of several pages as a reference into Vectorworks (2014) on several designlayers and put them into vieuwports set up as A1 elevations drawings with dimensions and all. This is a housing units project devided over 3 blocks. 12 elevations. Now when I edit the SU model all I have to do is update the Layout file and reexport the pdf. Then open the Vectoworksfile which automatically updates all pdf references. And all my 12 elevations are updated at once. Since this link is by pdf you can actually snap to lines in the pdf in Vectorworks. Conclusion: With a few simple clicks I have a perfect (layout) link between SU and Vectorworks. I don't have to mess about replacing pdf's. All is done automatically. It would even be better if Layout could update all its pages by one click. I could not use Layouts tools for dimensions etc. Too slow and a bit too simple to properly set up drawings with. Mayby someone can make a plugin that automates the proces of opening the Layout file, update all pages and export to pdf again. You can reset the default by renaming the . exe file. Sketchup changes the default exe to sketchup.exe as they expect you to only use one version. If you want SU8 as your daily use but still have su13 for when you need it, navigate to the su13 folder and change the exe to sketchup13.exe This lets you choose the one in the su8 folder as the default open with. This is a workaround and not really the right thing to do, however I haven't found any problems with doing it.

Materials are visible as thumbnails in Windows Explorer by default. I'm on Windows10 with SketchUp-2018. Try to repair SketchUp installation.

You can store your model in cloud storage provided by Trimble Connect or you can save it to your computer locally or you can do both. I do both when I use the web-based version.

@peterf said: I am a furniture maker using sketchup for fairly simple models such as modelling kitchens etc and the laptop I use it on is dying! I've been hunting around for ages trying to find an affordable replacement that will meet the required specs, but keep reading conflicting advice. My budget is around £400. I can easily find laptops with 8gb ram and fast processors, but the graphics requirements are leaving me stumped. Everyone says intel hd graphics are useless and some people say the AMD ryzen 5 integrated graphics are better and some say they're worse. Basically it seems like I can't afford a computer with a dedicated graphics card, so for the sort of modelling I do, what would you guys recommend? These are my top 2 options currently... https://www.box.co.uk/81V5001AUK-Lenovo-V155-15API_2808677.html https://www.box.co.uk/7DE73EAABU-HP-255-G7_2580201.html Well, with LENOVO V155-15API, you do get minimum requirements but it is minimum so if your models will be simple with not too many polygons then I guess you will be fine. But again, this is a minimum. https://help.sketchup.com/en/sketchup/system-requirements

When you installed SketchUp 2020 (and reinstalled it) did you right click on the downloaded installer and choose Run as administrator? Assuming you didn't or don't know, find the downloaded installer, right click on it and choose Run as administrator. Then when the options pop up, choose Repair.

And why not take programs who have SKP export format ? Moi3D (useful for transform Nurbs in SKp), Bricscad, PConPlanner etc... PconPlanner or Moi3D can be used as convertor !

You open up a CA file and under IMPORT you find IMPORT 3D SYMBOL and you can see SKP is one of the file formats you can open up directly as a symbol. There are some minor things you can do to the symbol, but it remains just a symbol that cannot be broken apart. [image: aKQ0_SKPimportintoCA.png]

That's not a bad idea, actually. I can place a guide point at my component's X,Y,Z intersection before exploding it. Smustard's Midpoint extension does the trick. Thank you Dave R. (See? Sometimes it pays to drill down.)

What Microsoft browser are you using? What version is it? Since this appears to be coming from Archelios, it would be a good idea to check with them and see what browser version they support. BTW, your profile indicates you are using 2020 Free/Make but there is no such version. Please update your profile.
