    • RE: Fredo Plugins Error

Not to bring this error up once again in 2023, but I'm experiencing it as well with SU 2021, FredoGhost v2.0a, FredoLib 13.7b, and Sketchucation Toolset v4.3.

After getting the error and restarting SU, the toolbar appears but when trying to open the Studio tool or activating the other limited tools that are available with the trial version, nothing happens, no messages or anything.

Disabled all plugins including Sketchucation v4.3 but except for Fredolib 13.7bb.

      Uninstalled FredoGhost.

Started up SU 2021 - installed FredoGhost - got the regular Restart SU message.

      Restart SU 2021.

FredoGhost toolbar appears - click on Studio tool and the Studio window opens as it should = baseline.

Open Extension Manager - one by one enabling plugins followed immediately by clicking on the Studio tool.

Enabled Sketchucation v4.3 - click FredoGhost Studio tool - no Studio window opens.

Immed. disable Sketchucation v4.3 - click on FredoGhost Studio tool - no Studio window opens.

      Uninstalled FredoGhost.

Started up SU 2021 - installed FredoGhost - got the regular Restart SU message.

      Restart SU 2021.

FredoGhost toolbar appears - click on Studio tool and the Studio window opens as it should.

I continued through the list of plugins to see if any others prevented FredoGhost Studio from opening, all good except for Sketchucation is still disabled. I'll leave it disabled for now as I trial Ghost and hopefully if all works well, I will get that Ghost license and a new version Sketchucation will be released that doesn't cause this conflict.

    • RE: SU to Vectorworks, easy pdf reference-link method.

      Francois,

I stumbled across your posting and oddly enough, I am doing exactly the same thing - now, it's 2020, so it's close to 5 years after you posted this so I wanted to see how you've progressed with this workflow? Any feedback would be great - have you thought of or have already converted over to using the newest version of Layout or you still working between the two apps (SU & VW)?

      Thanks!

I had to do some elevations in a hurry.
I had a detailled SU model. Imported it into Layout. Set the scale to 1:100
      Exported a pdf from Layout.
Imported the pdf of several pages as a reference into Vectorworks (2014) on several designlayers and put them into vieuwports set up as A1 elevations drawings with dimensions and all. This is a housing units project devided over 3 blocks. 12 elevations.

Now when I edit the SU model all I have to do is update the Layout file and reexport the pdf. Then open the Vectoworksfile which automatically updates all pdf references. And all my 12 elevations are updated at once. Since this link is by pdf you can actually snap to lines in the pdf in Vectorworks.

      Conclusion:
With a few simple clicks I have a perfect (layout) link between SU and Vectorworks. I don't have to mess about replacing pdf's. All is done automatically. It would even be better if Layout could update all its pages by one click.

I could not use Layouts tools for dimensions etc. Too slow and a bit too simple to properly set up drawings with.
Mayby someone can make a plugin that automates the proces of opening the Layout file, update all pages and export to pdf again.

    • Entity Info Window equivalen in Layout?

New to Layout - is there an equivalent to the Entity Info Window (in Sketchup) that is found in Layout?

Or do we just rely on the existing palettes which I'm assuming, any objects on our Layout pages, will be shown in those respective palettes?

      Thanks in advance!
