Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

"So I see they aren't "stored" in the file." Actually the textures are stored in the file. That's how you can send someone else the file and they can see the textures or pry them out of the file. Did the wine bottles come from the 3D Warehouse?

Exactly, and it looks like one of Monty Python sketches. The onlyplace this 3 line menu can happen is empty area, and the onlything you can 'select inverse' in empty area is 'Select All'. Now 2 questions arise: Why just don't call things by their names? And generally, why 'select all' is so essential in empty area?

Since this thread was written things have changed. In the Window menu you will fine Extension Warehouse and Extension Manager. If you are wanting to install extensions you've downloaded directly, go to Window>Extension Manager. At the bottom you will find Install Extension.

Not really topic specific but the latest Xfrog related post I could find so thought I'd touch base with this one. I've just started using Xfrog to make some custom trees. But, I'm having issues exporting them as .obj format to import into S.U. (Pro 2019). Some of my models import with the tiff textures OK, but others don't. On some, the image textures (tiffs) don't import, but get swapped out for default Xfrog textures (colors only), and on others, they come in as one sided only, which is not very useful, esp. on the leaf textures, as there are a lot of those to fix and the normal directions are all over the shop. I've also tried importing into Blender & same issue seem to occur. I'm not sure if it's the way the trees are structured in the Hierarchy and if some Xfrog components cause issues with exporting or not. Because I've had some import into S.U. OK, I'm pretty sure it must have something to do with how there made in Xfrog. I'm trying to work it out by trial & error but hoping someone else can shed some light on the topic. I haven't had much luck finding support resources for Xfrog, esp. in re: to S.U., so hoping this forum might be some help. And if anyone has any other tips on using Xfrog that they wish to share, that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

I think you'll find it difficult to do in SketchUp. I'll wish you success, though.

Your web-browser has many settings/options. For each file-type download made through your web-browser you can/must set an action... So for example, for a PDF file you might specify to always open it with the associated PDF-app... For a SKP file you might specify to either open if [with SketchUp using a Temp-file download] or to Save it directly to your computer - with no 'open'... For an RBZ [which is an extension archive] you should always have it set to Save... and nothing more... For the Saving location you can specify [say] to use your 'Downloads' folder, or 'Ask for location' each time... It sounds like your browser-settings have RBZ associated with SketchUp [incorrectly] and so it tries to open it after it is downloaded, and thereby breaks SketchUp doing. You need to Save it, and then use the built-in SketchUp > Extension-Manager to 'Install' the RBZ for you... So change your web-browser's settings/options to save the RBZ, NOT to open it... Then retry getting an RBZ downloaded... and then installed...

@robbitybobbityboo said: Any advice on a plugin that will create a clean outline of the projection of a shape onto a plane? Thanks. R. You may want to try FredoPortrait Here is the video https://youtu.be/6ulctxvENSI The approach is slightly different from a projection or flattening, since it takes the picture of the model (which is 2D) and create the silhouette out of it. I don't know if your model would work but it may be worth trying. Fredo

It's easy enough to post-process the image... Give the model a simple pure-white background. Export the PNG... In Photoshop / Gimp [or similar image-editor] choose the magic-wand tool and click any white pixel in the model's image to select all similar pixels. Hit delete and they are all gone. Repeat this with the background as necessary - e.g. if that's considered different color pixel-wise... Save changes - you should now have a transparent PNG with black line-work...

Maybe worth mentioning that if you run a program as admin, it won't see drives you mapped as your user.

Look forward to see what you come up with. Also curious if it is possible to implement Mantaflow snide of Sketchup.
