Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

I am a contractor and I have heard the term "gone off" before or in the more active and immediate sense "it's going off". I would say it is not even that uncommon. When it is used I would say it is taken to mean the concrete has achieved its initial set where the surface can still be worked to achieve a more polished finish but its liquid characteristics are gone. More often than not it is said with a bit of panic because there is more work to be done. I have lived in New England and the Southwest if that helps. I wouldn't think the term was out of place if I read it in the above context.

Thanks, Chris and TIG. I think a quick change of the layer color in the DWG exported from SketchUp from within Autocad is the quick fix here. (Chris, you got the scenario just right).

@tig said: Do you have lots of Materials or Components to be loaded into the browsers ? That will slow it down... Materials - just the standard install stuff, as I rarely do rendering, just splash a bit of color here and there. Can I get rid of or hide the stuff I don't use? Components - I think I have 2-3-4 of them in my template that opens when I start. Nothing crazy - a bunch of boxes (timbers).

in Spanish the word "Maqueta" was used frequently. Although i went to school in the states and i am more familiar with the term partii, be it a model or a drawing as marvins_dad suggests, as the more common term.

Matte If you are thinking about using SU for modeling here are a couple of good links I use. Sure there are many more http://www.finewoodworking.com/blog/design-click-build/page/4. this is a blog an has many short How -to's posted http://www.srww.com. Oh, we are talking about different plugins. I was talking about my super simple sine curve plugin. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the equation grapher. Many of my plugins need re-worked and I'm not finding the time or motivation to do it. It might be best to for me to take a few of them down, I don't know.

I started out using TurboSketch n/k/a IDX Renditioner, and I thought it did a good job of rendering each image. It's a plug-in, so it's convenient and very easy to use and has a good support forum. But since my purpose is to create Flash animations, I would have to manually render each frame of the animation. Since I've gotten Twilight Render I have used that for my renders, since it will automatically render the animation frames based on the scenes in SU. It's also a plug-in and very convenient and easy to use, and has a good support forum.

Hi folks. Your image suggest that hidden geometry is visible. A hidden face appears as a dotted array, as in your image. Try the View Menu and select the "Hidden geometry" to uncheck it. These hidden faces will disapear from view. This method of hiding geometry is good when you want to hide only a few items. When the number of hidden objects begin to get larger, you may loose track of what you have in your model. A better way is to create a layer and make it invisible. After that, assign all items that you want to hide to this layer. If you need to check a hidden item, simply show the layer. To work inside an enclosed object you may also consider going inside or using a "Section Plane". Just ideas.

Your friend could upgrade for a $95 fee from his older version. As for classes, search for "Certified Google SketchUp trainers" or "Authorized Google SketchUp Trainuing Center". Depending where you live, you may have luck to find one nearby. They can give you a certification with a nice badge. In many countries these classes can even be credited as college/univ courses.
