Can anyone help me out with creating plans? I love to design and build model aircraft. Google sketchup allows the modeler to create the model and see it dynamically before assembling. And if the creator comes up with a master piece he shares it with the world.

But I need to figure out how to do that. Like... I have the full version of Adobe Acrobat 9, so if I have a 3-view lets say of an aircraft. How to I create a PDF which is tiled for letter, (I hate doing this but this is how you print big/scale) and have a border, which you then cut and tape together to make a big picture.

      What I'm trying to accomplish-
-Plot or create fine lined plans (no blotchy/pixelated lines)
-Scale print 1:1 as in sketchup:printer
-Save space and not waste paper (green eco )

So if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.

      Regards,

      Jacob Cunningham

Have you thought about using LayOut 2 which comes with SketchUp Pro?

No I have not, because I don't have sketchup pro.
          Thanks for your input

If I understand what you are saying...

Export the seperate images from your sketchup model, I'm assuming a plan and a couple of elevations if you are making a blueprint type document, at a really high resolution, this will ensure fine lines.

Then using photoshop, or similar, combine the images into one large presentsation sheet the size you require. Add titles; notes; scales; whatever and then take the file down to your local printer for super sized printing, or save it as a pdf straight from Photoshop.

              In SU:
              Camera =parallel projection.......zoom extents.

              File.....print setup......Adobe pdf.....properties......Adobe pdf page size......user defined.......add.......make page size exceed model actual size ~ 10%......name page.....add/modify....ok...ok...ok

File...print preview.....printer adobe pdf....properties...select your user defined sheet size(if not already selected)OK......scale 1:1......tick_use high accuracy hlr...........tiled sheet range should be 1 to 1....click OK....in preview model should fit 1 user defined sheet.....click print.

Now you can crop the excess white space in Adobe Acrobat Pro if you wish and print to the sheet size of your choosing........just select tile large pages.

This should give you a fine line, 1:1 scale......you will have to figure out the "green" part.

              Best,
              Charlie

              NOTE:
Top "view" for some reason would not cooperate for me.......print preview splits model to 2 sheets regardless of the user defined sheet size.

                Hi folks.

In the Style window, edit your style or create a new one and turn of "Profiles" to get finer lines all over the model. This may be nicer for blueprints.

                Just ideas.

                  Greenace92.................what happened to you?

You piqued my curiosity with your Q.....and no report back ❓

I have done a few "full" scale print runs myself with good success and wondering if you needed any further guidance?

                  Just checking.....
